Try not to think of it is terms of "good" Catholic or "bad" Catholic. Instead, concern yourself with things you can do to be a "Better Catholic".

From the getgo, I can see two things you can by mindful of:

1) If attending a non-Catholic Christian ceremony, you must NOT take Communion. Also, you are obligated to fulfill your Sunday observance of the Sabbath in a Catholic Church. A non-Catholic Christian service does not take the place of a Catholic service. If invited to one, you may go of course, so long as doing so does not interfere with weekly Catholic Mass.

2) Please understand that, while homosexuals deserve to be treated with equal human dignity, marriage is a Holy Sacrament reserved for consecrating man/woman unions only.

It might do you some good to read up on the importance of Catholic Mass and the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. If you do not already have one, consider obtaining a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Please study it. You will learn a great deal about Catholic Doctrine.

The fact that you are a little confused and kind of going through a religious crisis is good because it means that your faith is becoming more mature.
Sometimes we don't agree 100% with the Church teachings, but still we try to obey its rules, if we want to belong to the Catholic Church.
Give yourself time, and in the meantime, pray that you will find a solution to your dilemma.
I wish you peace and joy.

The fact that you rely on humans to answer this question means probably not...turn this question to the Lord...except change 'Catholic' to 'follower of Jesus' or something... Being a good Catholic is basically following a set of laid out rules..and yes I am Catholic as well

You are a good Christian - but not necessarily a good Roman Catholic. Keep up the good work. If it bothers your conscience, just do an in-depth study into the ancient Christian view of paganism. Even the Bible Paul gives instructions to Christians attending pagan festivals. Unfortunately, most people misunderstand the text and think that he is talking about Christians in Christian religious festivals.

Follow your instincts. If you want to feel closer to God, just ask him, and he will grant it. There's nothing more to it, try not to be afraid of not fitting into a certain religion. God is greater than religion. As long as you feel him in your heart, you will know you are in the right path. Good luck.

I'm also a Catholic who doesn't buy into all the politics espoused by the Vatican (anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, etc.). I feel Catholicism is the true religion for me, however, which is why I continue the practice.

Keep praying and asking God for help and guidance. You will realize your destiny through prayer.

Well, we can't really judge you. Its kinda up to you and what you think of yourself. If you are having doubts, then maybe that means you want to change something about what you believe. I would say that you should study what the church teaches, and compare that to what you do/don't believe. We can't force you to believe anything contrary to what you believe. And, being human, it is incredibly difficult for everyone of a certain faith to believe exactly the same thing. From what you have written, I would say you are doing as well as you can.

Philosophically speaking: If you beleive In an "All-knowing God's" world, there can only be Heaven, because God won't create souls that upset Him (even though He creates them that upsets you). OTherwise (and according to popular contemporary religious practices [notice: I didn't say, "beliefs--they are opposite to their practices], He creates souls that DO upset Him, then blames them for being who they are, and sends them to a "Hell" for His mistake of creating them knowing He will be upset.
If you believe this, then you are not a good Catholic. If you can't believe this, then you are a good Catholic (but do you REALLY want to practice "God is not ALL-KNOWING

Dear Reader: If you don't like what I said, it's philosophy, have your belief and practice match each other and...live with it.

It sounds to me like you stand for nothing, and would possibly fall for anything. You do well to believe in one God, but seem out of step with the doctrine of your own church. Maybe you should shop aroind a bit, after some thoughtful prayer. God bless you in your search.

Not my job to make that judgement. Personally, I believe that only you and God can make that call. If you listen to the words of others, you'll just end up with a ton of their and your guilt heaped on you.
