find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

It's great to know that you exercise because it shows that you take care of your body and there is nothing wrong with wanting to lose a few pounds. Since you want to lose just a few pounds, I wouldn't spend time on a diet plan like Weight Watchers or Atkins or South Beach Diet. Just change your eating habits a little. Drink your 8 glasses of water everyday, eat more fruits and vegetables, avoid sugary foods, avoid late night snacking, eat smaller portions, consume at least 1200 calories a day just so your metabolism will not slow down, and rev up your workout routine a little. Hope you achieve your goal!

Wow, I tell you! I have tried MANY diets and I found the BEST is to change your eating and exercising and stick to it. Low Fat, Good Carbs As little of Sugar as possible... Keep it to like 1600 calorie or less a day and make sure you eat healthy breakfast. I like to go for a walk shortly after eating too. But remember one thing, it takes about 20 minutes for your Brain to tell your Tummy "I am full", so try eating very slow, setting down fork, chew swallow, and so on. I lost 16 pounds in less than 2 weeks by changing my eating habits and walking more than I usually do! Post how your doing!!
