1. Definitely don't pick at it.

2. If there is a scab, keep it covered, clean, and dry.

3. If it is just a red mark, but covered in skin, there are a few things you can use to minimize scarring. The plastic surgeons I have scrubbed with use a "scarlet red" dressing, which is actually gauze saturated with sterile olive oil! I know it sounds crazy, but it works.

Don't use acohol it will only dry it out worst. Try using vitamin E oil if it looks like it might be infected you should go to the doctor.

typically a red mark means it is infected, try cleaning it with alcohol or peroxide or even triple antibotic cream
