I got a Mormon guy fired because he was downloading porn, sending porn via email, and saving porn on the server. (This is a corporate policy issue, not a moral one) One of the titles was the "Houston 500", certainly can't be argued as a mistake -- it's pretty hard core.
The very funny thing about this story is that he had his typical mormon family picture with "his 2 little girls and his perfect mormon wife by the temple " sitting on his desk.
His Manager used the excuse to the HR guy: "Come on, this guy is a Mormon -- He goes to the Temple". As if that was supposed to get him off the hook.
So has this ever happened to you? Were you this guy?

I have no problem whatsoever with the fact that this guy was in to porn. Porn is great. Who cares.
The problem I have, especially Mormons, is that they think that their Mormon status makes the rules non-applicable to them. They also think that because they are Mormon, they will be favored when it comes to discipline. You see examples of this all the time, especially in Utah and Idaho, regarding child abuse / sexual abuse cases. Mormons get probation but other similar offenders of non-religious status get hard prison time.
Fortunately in this case, the HR director was a hard-Assss Jew and didn't put up with his rhetoric.

People are human... on every level. You say you have no problem with his actions... our church does. This does not mean that members of our church are perfect.
As to your point...The "Mormon" status shouldn't be used to get out of a situation. The suprise comes in the fact that in order to be a Temple worthy Mormon you should be living those standards associated with it. Most are. It is a little supprising that they have those weaknesses... but again, they are human.

It’s true; it is a massive advantage to be a devout Mormon amongst Mormons. They immediately upon meeting connect with each other, and emotionally bond.
There is a young man in my ward who boasted that he went in for a job interview, and here is what followed.
Interviewer- I heard you served a missionary to Italy.
Job seeker- Yes
Interviewer- That’s where my son served, you’ve got the Job
(Something along those lines) and then the interview ended.
If one doesn’t fit into are mold, than they are not one of us, they are dirty, to much devilish influence, no positive connections can be made, we are above the world, we are the chosen people saved for these last days, therefore, we only trust are own.
That is the Mormons way of analyzing what people are worth.

While I am not a Mormon and recognize that Mormons are people too, the real concern I have is about you as a manager.
If this event happened, you wouldn't be necessarily talking about this in Yahoo Answers because it violates confidentiality agreements at your work. You could be next to be fired because of violation of company policy. Fair is fair.
If this event happened, this can open you up to legal action from the person you had fired.

Haven't heard of it happening, but it doesn't surprise me.
Mormons make no claim to be perfect.
I don't know of examples of Mormons getting breaks because they're Mormon. Often they're discriminated against or held to a higher standard.
You've got some gripes. It seems that you're generalizing from a few personal experiences.

Hi Cheese and Rice,
i'm not Mormon, but i do want to say that i don't know if you can make a direct correlation with this guy being mormon and his actions.
You did the right thing in reporting him and hopefully he'll get help with his addiction.
i just think that it's sort of generalizing. i believe that mormons have bad theology- but the actions of this one guy doesn't make them all porn-addicts.
Kindly,
Nickster

Don't let this make you think wrongly of mormons.. I am a mormon.. and i strongly beleive in my religion and he must could have become addicted becasue of an accident.. you never know.. so don't judge, and he may be trying to get over this problem. but dont catergorize mormons based on some of the bad things that some who say they are lds do.

My hubby got a guy fired for the same thing, what a coincidence.
Mormons put on a great facade in public, but many of them are "sinners" behind the scenes.
Just look at the headlines of "good" mormons sexually abusing kids and child porn charges.
