What's your version of the situation? From what I've seen having been there most of the BS I see on Yahoo answer is just that, BS.
No, I don't think we should bring the military home. We should base troops there just as we did (ah, still do) in Japan, Korea, and Germany.
Jimmy Carter screwed us in 1979 we he turned his back on Iran and look what happened. We should learn from our mistakes and not turn our back on Iraq.

What a mess. Makes Viet Nam look like a Sunday walk in the park! We are stuck in a scenario written by our idiot President. We can't cut and run or all hell would surely break loose, and the longer we stay the more Muslim factions will try to kill us. We say that the Iraq government should take more control, however this mess never would have happened if we had stayed out in the first place. To be sure Saddam was a brutal person, however as a Sunni, he was still a balancing factor in the middle east. Now a Shiite majority is in power. Iran also is Shiite. If nothing else, Iraq will become a puppet of Iran and together they will throw us out of the area and form a power Bloc intent on destroying Israel. Has to happen and there is absolutely nothing we can do to stop it. We are waging a conventional war. They are waging a holy war which includes brutality that again makes Viet Nam that walk. One difference. Communsism fell. Islam won't and their hatred spreads to wherever a Muslim lives. Could be your next-door neighbor will chop off your head if his/her Mullah orders them to.

This is a tougher question because it has a basis on future outcomes. While personally, I think the situation in Iraq never should have happened, what's done is done and we need to come out with as little scarring all around. That means for the other countries too, not just America.
If we draw out all of the troops at once, that would leave us undefended on that battle front and an instable "baby" government.
But if we keep them there too long, feelings of hatred will only get worse in certain areas.
The best idea, and hypothetical situation would be to mend alliances, build up the base of their government but not make them dependent on us and slowly withdraw the troops.
But that's just me. ^___^ I'm only 18 and normally not interested in politics to this is the best I got for yah. Ciao! <3

Yes they should all be brought back home. My husband was over there and he was there for a year and a half. I only got to see him once out of that whole time. I couldn't watch the news and I worried about him all the time. I never knew when I'd get to talk to him if ever. I don't think we should be over there at all. The government doesn't care what happens to the soldiers families or how it affects there kids. My husband is now out of the military and I don't want my kids in the military either. It's not worth it. When your husband is over there and your here with the kids - the wife gets treated like crap. No one cares about the wife's or the kids. I would look at all the families with there dad's and husbands safe here and wonder if they even appreciated what my husband and family gave up for them to be home with there families.

Yes the war should of been stopped a long time ago. All the young troops getting killed over there is just awful. Were spending billions of dollars and nothing being settled. More and more soldiers are dying. We need to stop the war and send all the troops home safe.

The sooner our government opens its eyes and accepts the fact things in Iraq and the whole of the Middle East for that matter are NOT going to get any better until we stop supporting Israel the better off everyone will be.

YES, FOR SURE!!!
Any body who thinks that Al Qaeda is in Iraq that's why American should stay there, especially now, is worst than stupid; Al Qaeda's are every where, and for sure in the USA. They are in the form of whites too and many dont dressed in "Arabic" way. Al Qaeda are not stupid, they can disguise themselves so well.
Why would Americans young men go to Iraq killed by suiciders, they are not killed by Al Qaeda, they were killed by Iraqies , who dont want to be interfere any longer.
Comparing Iraq with South Korea? Hohoho, Korea never have had militants as strong as the Iraqies. Look at their experiences of life in centuries.
Anyway, too many idiots around just make the world noisy with armours. It makes the victims hatred stronger and stronger, the idiots never learn, and surprised when it hit them infront of their nose.

I don't like the situation at all...I don't like this war that in my opinion should've never have happened...I don't like that American soldiers are dying or even innocent Iraqis. I really want all the military safe and home but it's not realistic and it's not going to happen...at least not any time soon. I don't support the war but I do support the troops.

We obviously don't have the resources available in Iraq to win the war. I think that if we send in double or triple the amount of troops and equipment over there, then we might stand a chance of winning. It is hard to believe that we have been over there for over 4 years and there are parts of the country, especially parts of the capital, that hasn't seen a U.S. troop in years. How can we possibly win the war, when we take over an area and then abandon it to the enemy? Sounds reminiscent of Vietnam.
