I took care of a kitten for about 6 days and unknowingly to me, he had fleas. I found this out after the fact. His owner had given him a flea bath prior to me watching him but it did not kill all of them. My question is will my house become infested now or do I need to just do a good cleaning and washing?

If the kitten is no longer staying with you, and you have no other pets, the fleas will die. They need a host to feed on, literally, blood to suck, which comes in a form of an animal. If you have no other animals, I would vacuum really good, wash everything, and you should be fine. If you have other pets, you will need to treat them for fleas, and also treat your house, whether you use, flea powder for your carpets, spray, or a fogger.

Vaccume, Vaccume, Vaccume. And empty the vacccume each time. The fleas may have stayed on the cat. You can check for fleas by wearing white socks and walk around your house. If there are fleas, you'll probably see them on your socks. If you see them, don't panic, continue to vaccume. But if you are seeing MORE instead of FEWER fleas, the only real choice is to hire an exterminator. Been there, done that... those home foggers don't really work very well for me and the money I spent on them could have gone toward the exterminator. By the way.... the kitten's owner should foot the bill.

Well, fleas are parasites, so if you have any pets you need to do some sort of flea control for them, like Advantage or something. If you do not have pets, there is some stuff you can sprinkle on the floor that will kill fleas, and you vacuum it up like that Glade carpet cleaning stuff.

My vet said to sprinkle flea powder under furniture and all over the floors. Let it sit for a few hours then vacuum, leave the powder where your vacuum doesn't reach and don't empty your bag. Then everytime you sweep, the fleas that you pick up will die in the bag and the rest will die on your cats with medication. He said it works everytime.

Treat any pets in the house with frontline plus or advantage, and treat the environment.

Flea bombs will not kill the eggs, and the family will have to be out of the house for several hours.

Try this product....Fleabusters....works great, and the company guarantees it for a year...

you have to flea bomb the house, it's your only option. You can get them for like $20 at homedepot and you have to leave for 4 hours to let it air out. One time should take care of the problem.

I have 3 dogs and 2 cats, been there before several times

It's possible if the cat had fleas that they laid some eggs which will hatch in a couple of weeks. They will jump on any dog or cat or you if you don't have pets. If you have pets, I'd put Advantage on them to protect them just in case.
