Congrats on your new piggie!
Cavies communicate with a series of sounds, squeaks, & whistles. As you come to know your piggie, you will understand what she means & wants.
Without hearing the sound, it appears that she's just "talking" to you . This is good. Here is a site that may help you distinguish between the different sounds they make: http://www.jackiesguineapiggies.com/guineapigsounds.html
Please visit these sites for valuable info on the proper care, diet, & housing needs of guinea pigs. http://www.guinealynx.info/ and http://www.cavyspirit.com/ .
Good luck!

I've had several guinea pigs. Each one is different. You will get to know what each type of squeak means just like a mother knows what her baby's cry means. My guinea pig would squeak every time he heard the refridgerator door open. He thought he was suppose to be given some scrap fresh vegetable everytime that door opened. He also made a little purring sound when he was extra happy sometimes when he was being held. If I walked through the room without acknowledging him he would also squeal. I believe he had about 3 or 4 destintive sounds. If a child squeezed him too tight he would loudly squeal for "help me." My favorite resource for guinea pig information such as clipping nails, what to feed them, etc. is www.cavyspirit.com

Accuatly the guinea pig is talking to you.The sqeeks can mean anything from hungrey to mad.If you just fed it,it may be happy,if it hasn't ate in a while or your bringing food to it,it is probably hungrey.Very loud, super noises can mean pain or scared. Its normal language that my guinea squeeks, nothing to worry about.Good luck with your new guinea pig, they bring lots of joy.God Bless!

I love guineas and its for the pure reason that they talk to you and you can tell how they feel. If she is kinda chuttering her teeth then she is scared but if it is like a humming noise then she is happy. My guinea use to do it when it cuddled it or when it heard the word food lol.

Just watch them. You will soon get the idea of their noises. When they are gobbling down the fresh cilanto you just dropped in their cage or racing around the house, the squeaks and squeals will be very different.
It won't take you long to know what your pig is saying.

Guinea pigs can squeak for a myriad of reasons. They use vocal tone to tell you if they are scared, hungry, sad, upset, or lonely.

These little guys make lots of different sounds. I used to live with one who would sqeak loudly every time he heard the refrigerator door open-- didn't take him long to figure out that's where we kept the carrots! He'd also make a kind of pigeon-cooing sound when I'd brush or pet him.
