I'm going to take a guess that American troops are told not to enter through the border between Iraq and Iran, but how well are they reminded of this fact?

They, are well aware of this fact. They are reminded of this fact. The problem so is the enemy, and have on occasion used Iran as a santaury, knowing they will not be attacked.

Yes they are told not to enter other countries.well i am aware of navigation errors, as in accidentally going into Iran or any surrounding country they aren't supposed to. Well the incident i know of was a in Pakistan during Afghanistan, but now they probably extremely aware. Because of the growing hostilities between the U.S. and Iran, i'd guess they are probably cautious.

Other than special directives, I'm sure regular ground units are not allowed to follow anything into Iran. That could all change at the drop of a hat, though.

well enough that it hasn't happened.

Don't you think Iran would be screeching "INVASION!!" if they had?
(to squelch any argument like....
"well maybe the government is keeping us in the dark")
