i had a pussy thing by me eye a few times.
the best way is to put hot compress on it.
maybe a hot towel, hot spoons, maybe even put a coffee mug full of hot water and place the bottom of the mug on it. it should shrink in a few days.

The size of a quarter? Well, not good. This could be any number of skin infections. Hopefully it's just a follicular infection, but those can turn ugly and possibly get into the blood if the bacteria are bad enough. Staph can cause some problems, sounds like you need some direction from a physician, for sure. Don't underestimate a skin inflammation...even if it was a boil or pimple, the size of it means you need some sort of antibiotic ointment or even oral meds. It's not just about hygiene, you have good hygiene, these things just happen. People get infections - it's just a fact of life. :)

Hard to tell what it might be - have you gotten a splinter or an infected bite? A quarter sized lump sounds pretty bad - you might think about going to a doctor to find out what it is and how to clear it up. Don't leave it to see what happens, because from the sounds of it, it's just getting worse.

A hematoma is a blood filled mass in your dog's ear. It does need to be drained if it is that large. It will refill again. In the past, I've have vets put a drainage tube in the ear for a week. Some vets will stitch the ear to keep it from refilling. Your dog most likely has an ear infection that also need to be treated. It is the ear infection that causes the dog to shake their heards and this causes the hematoma.

I think that you have an ingrown hair. Load it with pimple cream and cover it with a bandage and it should dry up a bit so that you can see the hair and then pluck it.
I don't suggest popping it but if you can't take it go to the doctor and they will do it for you.

Don't cover it up. It needs air. Go to the doctor and let them take a look at it. And don't pop it. Don't worry. I had one bigger than a quarter and it was on my knee and I was young so I popped it and so now I have a scar.

It could be an ingrown hair, or you could have a skin condition that for the life of me I cannot remember the name of. Go see your doctor and have it checked out.

sounds like it is a clogged hair follicle. if it has any size to it, then your doc can give you some antibiotics and it will clear right up.
