2. Often has trouble keeping attention on tasks or play activities.
3. Often does not seem to listen when spoken to directly.
4. Often does not follow instructions and fails to finish schoolwork, chores, or duties in the workplace (not due to oppositional behavior or failure to understand instructions).

Hyperactivity

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

ADHD is a medical condition that affects how well someone can sit still, focus, and pay attention. People with ADHD have differences in the parts of their brains that control attention and activity. This means that they may have trouble focusing on certain tasks and subjects, or they may seem "wired," act impulsively, and get into trouble.

Some of the signs of ADHD are when someone:

* has difficulty paying attention or staying focused on a task or activity
* has problems finishing assignments at school or home and jumps from one activity to another
* has trouble focusing on instructions and difficulty following through
* loses or forgets things such as homework
* is easily distracted, even when doing something fun
* has problems paying close attention to details or makes careless mistakes
* has trouble organizing tasks and activities
* has difficulty waiting one's turn
* interrupts or intrudes on other people
* blurts out answers before questions have been completed
* fidgets with hands or feet or squirms about when seated
* feels restless
* talks excessively and has trouble engaging in activities quietly

it means you like to do more than one thing at a time - and generally at least one of 'em is something your teacher wishes you wouldn't. It's a bucket the school system dumps kids into who can't sit for hour after hour reading and entertaining themselves in the classroom ....

p.s do try to focus and get along but keep in mind that some VERY successful people have it and used it to be successful - it's not a disease; it's a personality characteristic!

I have it, pretty bad. Trouble concentrating, slight shaking of hands, (causing bad handwriting) .. thats really about it. ADHD is basically being overly hyper.

It 'supposedly' makes it hard for you to concentrate and stop moving. I, of course, don't believe in this disease. They are naming a type of personality. Drugging little kids up with stuff they don't need is incredibly unnecessary.

To me, ADHD means that the teacher doesn't think you're a 'Brady Bunch' kid.
