If it comes up in conversation, be honest about it. You're as entitled to your beliefs as everyone else is. You're also entitled to speak your mind. You are not a second-class citizen, even if some theists think it's okay to treat you like one.

Is it you don't believe in God, or their Version of Him. Try Krishna Consciousness. It convinced so many atheists and back sliders and other agnostics. Why Because it makes sens. God makes real snes. Not this so called religion, which has unlimited denominations and even denominations within the denominations. Why?- Because they don't have the Truth, because king Constantine added and omitted so many things. Check it out google gospelofthenazirenes.com For Krishna Consciousness go to harekrishnatemple.com Don't give up on God until you have heard the whole truth. That is good you are leaving a religion, but don't leave God He is real. The Bhagavad Gita will give you all the answers, you can read it on line go to asitis.com I love it. Tell them- this way of preaching makes no sense to me and I am looking for God elsewhere.

The Constitution of the United States of America states that I have "inalienable rights" i.e. rights that I'm born with...not civil rights or human rights (which are very important too), but inalienable rights that go beyond what any person or governmental body could give me...
among those rights remains the right to choose to not believe in God as well as the right to choose to pursue being a pastor...
nevertheless those rights remain equally valid and one not innately more important than the other in the big picture of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness...
the freedom to choose...what a precious right we have...no b.s.

Its easy. I have 7 ministers in my family and im an agnostic. My religious beliefs are mine, not theirs. Just tell them that you havent discovered god in your heart and move on. Stand by what you believe an theyll stop bothering you.

There are lots of very religious people out ther who will respect other people's beliefs.
Without knowing anything about this person and how they are going to react it is impossible to say.
If they are going to say "O.K. then." then just tell them.
If they are going to lock you in a room an torture you until you proclaim you believe, then do not tell them.
If they have a problem with your decision, it is there problem not yours.

Tell him that you do not feel the presence of god in your life and until you do you feel it it's hypocritical for you to espouse belief. Tell him he's welcome to pray for you but only if and when you can be sure will you embrace faith once more.
Pastors can relate to a crisis of faith better than out and out Atheism.

simple.... "I don't believe in God"...
if they are a genuinely religious person, they will get what your are trying to say. i think a person that does have religion in their life that consists of believing in God, will not try to change your mind or anything. they should take in what you are saying without trying to change what it is that you believe.

You dont have to bring it up, but if it does, like if they offer for you to go to church, just say "no thanks, I dont really beleive in God" and just be confident in it and stick up for yourself, dont let them make you feel like your a bad person, just give your reasons and if they dont except it, move on.

This seems difficult, but the best thing will be to just start talking to them about it. Give them your reasons, hopefully they will understand. If not, it's ultimately your choice, so you should be able to do what you want.
