I happen to know a lot of Christians on Antidepressants. That could be due to all the exploitation, hypocrisy, and misleading, confusing information they have endured. For the original Teachings of Jesus before King Constantine misconstrued so many things google gospelofthenazirenes.com The Truth will get rid of depression.

I found these statistics.... but it's only taken with people that attend church and their religions. doesn't really apply to atheist.
although, studies do show that people who have spiritual beliefs are alot happier than those who don't.
"People who attend religious services weekly or more are happier (43% very happy) than those who attend monthly or less (31%); or seldom or never (26%). This correlation between happiness and frequency of church attendance has been a consistent finding in the General Social Surveys taken over the years.
The same pattern applies within all major religious denominations. For example, 38% of all Catholics who attend church weekly or more report being very happy, while just 28% of Catholics who attend church less often say they are very happy. The survey also finds that white evangelical Protestants (43%) are more likely than white mainline Protestants (33%) to report being very happy, but this difference goes away after taking frequency of church attendance into account."
now, i also found this:
Is there a secret weapon against depression? Research suggests it might be religion. Studies show that people who practice some sort of religion are happier and less stressed out than those who don't.
Those findings come as no surprise to Dr. Harold Koenig, a psychologist and co-director of the Center for Spirituality, Theology and Health at Duke University, who says there are a number of factors that contribute to religious people being happier.
"Generally, religious people have a positive view of the world," said Koenig. "They believe they are here for a reason. They see a purpose and a meaning in their life and have hope."
Studies show that under severely stressful conditions, religious people also cope better.
"They feel that God is with them and gives them strength," said Koenig.
What About Spirituality?
It is not clear if there is a difference in happiness between those who practice organized religion and those who consider themselves spiritual, said Koenig. In part, that's because it is more difficult to define spirituality.
However, Koenig added, practicing within an organized religion seems to offer people important group and community support. While an activity like volunteering can provide much of the same satisfaction as attending church, many people need external motivation.
"If you give of yourself and love others and have a positive outlook, you can achieve the same thing," said Koenig. "The only thing is most people can't do that. Most people need some kind of faith system and group support which a church

Absolutely! With too many people in this country creating happy hoosegow such as fantasy friends who 'love' them, everlasting life on a happy farm, and no cares for the world we actually inhabit, the rest of us are left shouldering more of the burden than we should have to.
So if the fantasy funbunnies would just GROW UP, we could ALL have a little less misery and a little more fun!
Sheesh!

I'm an atheist and I'm not on anti-depressants or any form of mind-changing drug, I'm far from it. In fact, in comparison to my Christian counterparts at my school, I am far happier.
Why do you assume atheists are depressed, and why do you assume that people who have Jesus are not happy? Are the Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists not happy? Perhaps it is you that is unhappy in your religion because you are not being fulfilled by it.

Where do you get your statistics? Just
over-generalizing by about 1000% aren't
you? If you're trying to minister to any-
one, being harsh and overly-critical is
NOT the way to do it! Do you really
think Jesus himself would use those
tactics?. That sounds to me like you are
trying to mimic your pastor.
