wow that ginger girl certainly is mean "can she be a ginger? "an evil person with no soul, or feelings? Anyways Go to the dollar store can you spare $5? If you have a job next time you need to manage your money better so your not stressing out like this
The one yr old doesn't need much, but the four yr old you could get him maybe crayons and a coloring book, or play dough

if you have a computer as I would say you do, make them a coloring book. I use to make these for when I babysit kids. also you could take there favorite cartoon charcter and print out and make a book about them using there name in the book and special things about htem amybe a few pictures or so of them. kids think this is cool to have a book all about them. You could type it up and get pictures from the internet and , it would be something they could cherish later in life.you can read it to them to make it extra special.
At this age kids are really good about that, make them a funny sing a long - most computers can burn cds today. Also you could do a search on craft ideas for children form everyday house hold items and make something with them as thier gift. You can also make homemade play do and take old containers and paint them to put the play do in.
kids at this age will usually only remember who was there when they blew the candle out. Gifts are overrated . Love and being there is much more important.

Maybe a birthday shouldnt be about the gifts you being there and playing with them will be enough children are very sweet and understanding and all they want is your attention its not all about what you can give them other than that I really dont know sorry maybe you could bake some cookies or something like that be creative you might have the best gift because it came from your heart not your purse

take them to the park for an afternoon of fun! my kids are 5 and 2. they also like to watch trains go by (sounds dorky but they love it and i remember doing this daily as a kid too). since you have access to a computer, search for "coloring pages" of whatever they are into or favorite cartoons and print them off.

what about providing the entertainment at the party? do a clown act, or find some cool games to play and be the referee or whatever?

You don't need to give the 1 year old anything- they won't know anyway. Give the 4 year old something of yours. If it's for a girl an old necklace you no longer wear would be nice.

Go to the dollar store. Certainly you can come up with 2 bucks? Get the 4 year old side walk chalk and go out and draw with her. Get the 1 year old a book and read it to him.

Take old sweaters that you don't want anymore and shape them and stuff it into the shape of a teddy bear or other stuffed animal (octopus is fun)l. Sew some eyes, nose and mouth (don't use buttons, just thread) and you have no cost gifts! They'll love them!

The 1-year-old won't know any better so you don't need to get that one anything. Or maybe an IOU for when you have some cash. 4-year-olds love Play-Doh, which is pretty cheap.

Fun overnight, with a kid video, tent making in livingroom and fun, fun, fun. cupcakes with sprinkles, or icecream with toppings. Mom and Dad will esp like it. Even taking them to the park and having fun is a treat. I'm sure everyone will understand. I would.
