Being that i am in the military and the health field, she needs to contact her nearest Personal Support Command (PSD) or Admin office on the neastest base. She can also find most of these numbers on the WEB. Just google the name of the nearest base and she should be able to find numbers. They will get the baby set up with DEERS, and ID Card. She will also need to have the orignal birth certificate with the fathers name on it. Once she does this then she should be able to enroll her baby into Tri-Care Prime or Tri-care Standard. If she lives around a military base that has a Peds clinic then i would say go for the Prime cause then she can use the military clinic. If she doesn't then she needs to use Standard which means she can use a Peds Doc that excepts Tri-Care out in town.

Easy, let me help you out: First if the father recognizes his child and is on the Birth Certificate as the father it is no problem. All you have to do is contact the father make sure he has the birth certificate(get him an original, he will need it), and have him enroll the child in DEERS, once enrolled the child can get an ID Card. I know there is an age limit on the ID Cards like not until their 5 or something but check with the father. In addition, if he is the father and claims the child he will get paid as such, the money should come to you. Go to court and get it in writing so he will have to pay unless you don't want it. On the other hand if he does not claim the child you will have to get a paternity test and then he will be forced to do the above. Good Luck and let me know if I can help.

1) Paternity MUST be established. Your word isn't good enough. There must be documentation.
2) The father must place the child on his Page 2(dependants page).
3) The father must enroll child in DEERS.
4) The father must get the child an ID card.
5) Then you may get the TriCare information from the father so that you can take the child to the Doctor/Dentist.
Children under 10 do not require an ID, but I believe that since you are not married a card would be issued for the purpose of getting medical attention for the child and for commissary priveledges.

Jennifer S said most of it.
Since the parents are not married the child would get an ID card.
If the father denies the child, find out who his first sgt. is (they can call at the main gate/visitors center if they will not give you this information, which they might not, so don't get upset, just let them call and go from there.)
If he wont pay c/s it can and will be deducted from his pay.
I hope the dad wont be like that though and that the process will go smoothly for you.

if the father's name is not on the BC, you will be required to prove paternity(on your own dime).
get a court order establishing Child Support. make sure it includes who is responsible for providing medical and dental insurance. the military cannot and will not get involved without a court order.
Once you have the court order, you can contact the father and make a request. if he refuses to do so, then you can go to his command. with a court order, they are required to ensure he does so.
the child will be then enrolled into DEERS( you are not eligible). the child will get an ID card, although typically, onlythose ten and over get one. you will get a form that allows you on base to access facilities that the child is entitled to. so you could go tot he commissary and buy diapers and baby formula, or the Exchange and buy clothes for the child. But you would NOT be able to purchase anything for yourself.

The mother can't do it. The military member is the only one that do the paperwork neccessary. If the fahter is unwilling to to the paperwork, you can contact the member's First Sgt. or Commander.

You can start by filing for child support through your local court. They'll go after the father to provide benefits and force him to make the necessary arrangements for you.

advantages initiate as quickly as your dependents are registered in DEERS, which would be executed during processing as quickly as you deliver out. Technically, you're no longer formally in yet, which means neither of you has advantages suitable now. If the newborn isn't yours, yet its widespread place of abode is with you and your spouse, he or she would be extra as a based.
