my daughter is 8 months old, shes already takin a couple of steps on her own unguided. she's been doing this for about 3 weeks or so. she also walks around things like coffe tables on her own. she also knows how to stand up on her own without holding on to something for support. my question is, is she too young to be doing this much or is she right on time? how old was your kids when they started doing these things?

my daughter was walking at about 7 months....I was worried too. I thought that walking so early might make her legs bowed. I took her to the dr. and he said that she will do things when her body is ready. He told me to make sure she was getting enough calcium and was getting a healthy diet, and she would be fine. She's now almost 19 months old and she doesn't walk anymore....she runs!!!! LOL. Anyway. If ever in doubt about your child please she your dr. They will help you through the stuff that you think "I am worrying.....Is she falling behind....and those kinds of questions.

Good Luck and God Bless.

Each child is different. My daughter ran across the room at 8 1/2 months and my son took 5 steps on his own at 10 months. Both were walking around the room with the aid of furniture at 7 months. That really means nothing in the grand scheme. I walked at 9 months and my little brother walked at 16 months.

My one piece of advice is take pictures!!!!!!!!!

That is awesome and yes advanced (to walk around furniture at 8 mo;s without holding on!). My son started walking at about 10 months but he wouldn't let go until almost 12 months.

He would stop and look at something that was in a spot he would have to and tighten his lips up and shake his head no. It was so cute.

And honestly he was so chunky I was impressed he could get up at all! LOL My sweet baby! How I love him so.

I don't think there is really a "too young" for physical skills. Most kids will do them when they are ready. It is more concerning if they are far behind the average. However, the average is also a wide range when it comes to development.

My son was 9 months when he started pulling himself up and cruising around using the furniture. I think that is about the average.

My son started doing that stuff around that age too and just took off walking long distances when he was 10 months.... Some children don't start walking till 12 months so she may be earlier than some. Next pediatrician visit; just ask him and they will tell ya the averages.

Congratulations on having a daughter! She is already walking without help is something to be proud of. She is definetly a fast learner. I don't have kids (18 is a little young.) but my friend (also 18) is a mommy and took her son a little longer to learn to walk. She is very smart and you should be proud!

My youngest started walking at 8 months and my middle was walking at 9 month My oldest is a boy and he started at 11 months. I think girls start sooner it's like the maturity level .

She is right on time.... my daughter did all of those things and ended up walking alone a day after she turned 9 mos old.

That is a bit early. I would be very happy, but also a little sad. Now that she's mobile, your life as a parent moves into a new and higher gear; she can get up and go without you and now you get to chase behind her, "stop that, don't go there, put that down, where did you get that? don't put the phone in the toilet"

Enjoy!
