Sometimes for treats if feed my guinea pigs yogurt drops. are these bad for them, i never thought they were. please answer!

Um....The ones made especially for guinea pigs are fine. They are pretty balanced and can be a good treat to use when training. But the thing is to remember to give it to them sparingly, it's kinda like crack for guinea pigs.
I was reading some of the posts above...ya'll do know yogurt drops mean the pet kind right? As in not w. raisins and for people... If you get the right kind it's made from goat not cow milk, which is better for them.

I'd say no, however human food is very different from an animals and sometimes the preservatives and sugars can upset a animals stomach. Guinea pigs require more roughage like nuts, fruit, veggies and there nutritional diet has adapted to suit a more "Natural" diet. Yogurt coated raisins or just yogurt won't hurt the little guy/girl, just remember they are "Treats" just as chocolate and junk food is to humans, moderation is key. Now i feel like some yogurt treats!

Yes but not just because they are for hamsters. Guinea pigs are strict herbivores and shoudl not have dairy and all pet store treats are garbage. Feed fresh fruits for treats. Cow milk is for baby cows. Not guinea pigs. Its unhealthy and unnatural to feed guinea pigs cow milk. Do not feed your guinea pig milk or any dairy.

Consider them guinea pig candy.
The sugar levels are pretty high, so it's a great treat, but too much will make the piggies fat.
About 1/2 a drop a day is a great treat.

I don't think so. I have given 2 to my rabbit everyday for a year and he's perfectly healthy. However, I don't think you're supposed to give a guinea pig or a rabbit more than 2 a day.

No they are not bad for them. I had guinea pigs and I used to feed them baby carrots and alfalfa for treats. It just depends on what your particular guinea likes. If he/she likes yogurt drops for treats, then by all means give them to him/her.

well imagine eating an organic diet all your life, and then that fatefull day someone give u a snickers bar.... This is just like those yogurt drops, their junk food for guinie pigs, and bunnies, and they will crave them, and they are bad for them. So don't give the more than like one every few weeks.

They are crap, but apparently a lot of people have no problem giving junk food to animals.
Give your pig a small piece of fruit for a treat instead.

They are not good for your pigs. Please stop feeding them yogurt treats. Pigs are strict herbivores, meaning they do not eating anything but plants. Dairy products can cause digestive upset because their systems are not designed to handle dairy products. Do not feed them seed treats either.

They can be a good treat, as long as you use the ones made for them. They generally have xtra vitamin C in them. Also give them sparingly. Too much can overload their systems with vitamin C or make them fat.
