Not really any pain honestly, I'd describe it more as pressure. It feels like they're squeezing that part of your ear with there finger and thumb. Jabbing your fingernail in your tragus hurts more then the actual piercing.

Soreness wise wasn't bad at all. Throbbed the first night and was sore for 2-3 days after.

My rook piercing was waaaaay worse. My entire top portion of my ear was sore for a good week.

Tragus was nothing. Don't worry you're golden. Plus just think, if tons of people get this piercing daily, then of course the pain is managable!! Relax and enjoy the experience.

Sorry to break the trend and sound like a wimp but my tragus was the most painful of all my piercings. (lobes, cartilage, eyebrow, nose, and tongue) I had to lay on my side and the piercing genuinely hurt. Then my hoop didn't want to go in so it seemed like tugging and pulling. (The piercer wasn't literally tugging/pulling) I was determined to have the hoop put in b/c I knew I wouldn't sit through it again. Finally it was done though. It did hurt me to sleep on for a while. It also didn't start to heal well. I tried several methods for cleaning it. I ended up buying the ear piercing cleaner from Walmart and it healed fine.
Despite it all I have had my tragus ring in for a year and a half and I love it. It's also discreet so I can wear it to work. Sorry if this scared you. I know that much of the discomfort was due to the hoop not initially going in. I'd check out http://www.bmezine.com/pierce/01-ear/bme-pg01-exp-s12-001.html to hear more stories.

It hurts for about two seconds. (literally) I was able to sleep on my ear after the second night. Because it's not covered like a navel or other concealed piercing, it heals extremely fast. Take care of it as instructed. It's still a body piercing and must be kept extremely clean. Be careful not to get gel, hairspray, cologne, etc., on it.
I didn't get the hoop put in during piercing, they put a labret stud in. I wanted a cleaner, more professional look. Hope that helps.

I got mine pierced a couple years back with a ring, and still enjoy it and have had no problems with it what so ever. I didn't find it hurt, however I did hear a pooping sound when the needle went trough, so that was kind of disheartning. Other than that, try not to touch it with your hands, and follow the after-care regime.
Also, there is a good site called BME that has many stories/experiences of people that have had it done.
