I've been taking wellbutrin for a long time and recently switched to bupropion because it was cheaper and was supposed to be the same thing...I'm definitely feeling different and want to know if anyone else feels like this isn't the same medicine. Thanks!

I've taken both and have never felt a difference. It's just the generic brand, you may just be sub consciously feeling different because you know that it's a different name, but they do the exact same thing. If you feel your symptoms coming back or are uncomfortable with it, call your doctor and let them know. It won't do any good if the medication you take isn't really helping you.

It's possible you were taking Wellbutrin XL and now switched to Bupropion SR. Those are not the same. XL is time released, which works a bit different then SR. For me, I started off on SR and was switched to XL and it was a horrible experience and I had to switch back. If they are both SR, then it's all in your head. :D

These medications are the same so you might ask your doctor why you're feeling differently.
