I just answered a plea for advice from a yong girl who was molested by a Jehovahs witness man that she was alone with in the car going door to door (thier name for handing out watchtowers)...NONE of the JW'S that answered her told her to go to the police....NOt one that I could see...(i didn't read them all)...She was called a liar by one in particular and most seemed to be more worried about the JW reputation than the girl in question...MY question is: ARE WE GOING TO PUT UP WITH THIS? What can we do?..When are the coverups going to stop!

Well....what are YOU going to do?
We need to teach our kids to be pro-active instead of reactive.
*** I don't care if you find me ridiculous or not. Ranting on a Q&A board does nothing for this girl, does it?
It will stop when people like you get off the internet and call the Kingdom Hall and report it. Other than that, no one is knowledgeable of the offense.
*** You call me a fool, then profess the love of Jesus. Way to go! ***
*** Then get off the internet & call 911 ! ***
"Jesus agrees that i'm a fool" How old are you? You are aware that you are discrediting yourself everytime you say something like that!

First off, why would someone who was molested get on here and ask advise? Why not tell her parents? Or someone else. Or tell the police if she wants to go that far first. I personally, would not go to the police, without first telling my parents.
The problem with this format, there is so much slander told, to discredit Jehovah's Witnesses, that it does not ring of truth.
First off, anyone and everyone that is a witness, knows that you don't ever leave a man and woman/girl alone in a car or house etc.. if at all possible. So there is no questions of these type of things happening. It's just common sense in the world we live in. I'm not going to say there has never been someone professing to be a Witness who hasn't gotten involved in something like this, but they are no longer a witness, and the police will be called and advised, it would be up to the families involved if they want to press charges.
How can it be handled in the congregation, if no one knows about it. Don't assume that the elders know anything about it, and are "covering it up" from the police. That is just spreading slander.
If she's not going to handle it properly, then she needs to drop it.
I have been molested myself, NOT by a Jehovah's Witnesses, by my Aunts husband and a cousin. So I do know how it makes you feel.
I just figured out your an ex-witness....so now I really doubt the truthfulness of any of this. By the way, my uncle was a Baptist and so was the cousin. Does that mean every Baptist is a child molester? Of course not!

I understand, I am not being generalistic but many not all Jehovah Witnesses are like that. there are many religious poeple have false beliefs like that. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do because you have to look at the individual not the group as a whole. I know a family of Jehovah Witnesses and they would never in anyway support anyone accused of molestation, whether a that person be a JV or not. Unless JWs were a group like N.A.M.B.L.A. that all shared the same beliefs that could hurt someone there is nothing you can do. People have their opinion and you can't punish anyone for that. I'm sure that girl will get help one way or another. BTW I don't think questions get thumbs down, maybe I'm wrong.

I answered her and told her to go her parents and the police and do whatever was necessary. I know those things do happen. I personally experienced something similiar and I didn't get justice from the elder body handling the situation but i did get it from Jehovah. I am currently serving as a regular pioneer, my children are auxillary pioneers, and I remarried a wonderful brother. Jehovah gave me justice and did not fail me. I understand your being outraged at that time in my life i was really hurt. But I left it in Jehovah's hands after yes, i did go to the authorities and i did do what needed to be done and he helped me.

Sadly, this questioner decided to portray Jehovah's Witnesses in the worst possible manner. In fact, many or most of the posters who self-describe as Jehovah's Witnesses actually did encourage the apparent victim to go to the police and talk with her parents
For now, this seems to be an appropriate occasion to reiterate Jehovah's Witnesses' position regarding abuse.
Jehovah's Witnesses are disgusted and repulsed by abuse, and are relieved when secular law enforcement officials successfully investigate, prosecute, and punish any criminal who engages in these terrible crimes.
Jehovah's Witnesses fully understand that their role as a religion is in providing comfort to the victim and her family, sharing relevant bible warnings with the congregation and specific potential victims, extolling Christian peaceableness and righteousness, and eventually perhaps in counseling a repentant sinner.
Government workers such as police and prosecutors are generally empowered to pursue criminal matters. Jehovah's Witnesses always work in obedience to secular law and deference to the personal decisions of victims (and their families, where practical). Jehovah's Witness ministers do not investigate criminal matters, leaving such matters to law enforcement authorities.
An unrepentant baptized Jehovah's Witness who is found guilty of a secular crime is likely to be disfellowshipped (or "excommunicated", although Witnesses do not use this latter term). However, a sin against God's supreme authority is clearly a different matter from a sin against secular superior authorities. The standards for criminal conviction and forced religious disassociation will never be identical.
When this matter is used dishonestly as a mere club with which to beat Jehovah's Witnesses, it is a shameful shameful thing. It is a type of "hatred" which should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:
(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

I read the question and the answers, and you are overstating it a little bit. A couple of the JW's that answered accused her of lying, but said also that if it did happen she should tell her parents and the police. By far almost all answers encouraged her to tell her parents and the police. I'm curious why you don't mention your outrage at those people who use this situation to rant against religion, how does that help her? Hopefully she will listen to folks who are giving her good advice, but beyond that there's not much anyone here can do.

Over and over, you can see cult members wantsing to preserve the cult at any cost. It's not just JWs, that's true. But they are in denial. They can't believe that one of them would do something so bad, nor that it would be covered up. They would rather let someone continue to be molested than admit that there is a serious flaw. They invoke the mantra of "not bringing reproach on Jehovah's name" when someone wants to report this kind of thing. They would rather let the bad thing continue than let it be seen that they are no better than any other religion. And that makes them worse. Good for you for making this a conspicuous question!

Can you imagine!!!
oh and btw, Michael Jackson was (if not still is a JW) I know his mom still is.
Even IF it were a prank, we still have to assume the child is telling the truth. That is what pedophiles prey on, that adults won't believe a child. We each have to work independently from where we are to do what we can to protect all of God's children.

If the girl will not testify out loud, there is nothing the legal system can do. But a JW should, of all people, know that there are many ways to 'testify', and that actions are the greatest testifier of them all.
So let them say and do what they will: "Be on your guard against false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but underneath are wolves on the prowl...None of those who cry out 'Lord, Lord' will enter the kingdom of God but only the one who does the will of my father in heaven."
