Perhaps they just want it restored to its original form.

A lot of people (just browse the section of this site) either don't believe in God or have a totally different concept of God than the men who founded this country.
They probably rationalize that since their beliefs are different from those of the Founding Fathers, they shouldn't have to dedicate themselves to this country and God when they say the Pledge of Allegiance.
In addition, they may believe that Church and State should be 2 separate entities and that those in power shouldn't impose their religious beliefs on the people through the laws and regulations they pass.
It's just a guess...

because not everyone believs that we are under god. religion and the government are suppossed to be seperate so using god in a pledge to the government doesn't really make sense. it's the same think when i t comes to the money we use "in god we trust", but we don't all think that and why does it even need to be there inm the first place. i'm a christian and i still don't think under god should be in the pledge and in god we trust shouldn't be on our money simply b/c of the separation this country was founded on.

Some people such as those who favor ACLU ideas think that by having the words Under God as part of the pedge of allengiance is forcing non believers into acknowledging something that they do not believe in...thus is against their civil liberties..i.e. freedome of choice. Others take the stand that the US government should not in any way or form associate itself with a spiritual idealism..i.e. God because they feel it goes against the constitution.
I don't happen to agree with either stand...but I do understand how some people might feel the way they do.

Because people want to be politically correct.
I strongly believe that "political correctness" is one of the most destabilizing factors at work in our country today. The ACLU seems to be the king of political correctors. Or would that be correctees? Anyway, being racist is one thing but being politically incorrect is just ridiculous. People are so afraid to step on others' toes for fear of being sued or other such nonsense. Be frank, be honest, be polite, but say what needs to be said! For instance, I am not afraid to speak out against affirmative action--who am I to stand by while someone with lower grades than I have gets to go to a college instead of me, just because he is part of a minority. Yet people say it is politically incorrect to say such things because it is not being fair. Excuse me, I got the grades, and he didn't; therefore what is fair is for me to get the spot at the college. People!
I mean business when I go off on tangents, don't I?

Because people are in rebellion from God, as a result they want to hide the truth that He is.
If you are a Christian, then He must be God of all of Your life or He will not be God of any of it.

Because the country was funded in Christianity and not under Buddha or something.Do you see the Netherlands they are prosperous because they trusted God and not something else
and now because they went away from those standards they are beginning to fall if you do that that will be road to destruction

I think it would be better to return it to how it was originally written. The government really does not need to establish governmental theism, and it certainly has no place endorsing monotheism above all other types. Establishment clause, and all that.

Because it was never meant to be there in the first place. It was added in the 1950s during the Communist scare.
