If you're having problems over eating on your cravings, try this - find something filling but low calorie, maybe a nice vegetable soup, some fruit, and yes drinking water also helps a lot of times. But do not totally deprive yourself of your favorite foods that you are craving. If you do that - you will eventually give in. Make sure you are satiated before allowing yourself to indulge in that fat filled snack - and then limit the amount. Have only enough to savor the flavor and get rid of the craving.
If you have a craving, and you're hungry, and you give in while you're hungry you'll go overboard often. Make sure you're full of good stuff - not hungry then have a little of your favorites.
I'm dieting myself right now - and going through the same thing - so this is what is helping me. Hope it helps you to.
Also let me recommend a great diet book I am currently reading - it's called Volumetrics. :) Good Luck!

Drink lots of water and chew lots of gum. If you're craving something sweet, have something that's not too bad - a small piece of dark chocolate (which is good for you in small amounts), some Cool Whip in between chocolate graham crackers, etc.
Just remember that it's ok to have so-called "bad" things, as long as it's not too much :) Good luck!

I have a product called Slim Spray Instant. It is spearmint flavor. You spray twice into the back of your mouth when you go to eat when you maybe should not (between meals). It stops food cravings. You can purchase this product from health shop, or you could try typing Slim Spray into your web search bar. Good luck.
