we went to the doctors for her checkup, she was acting fine this morning, but when we came home from the doctors she has not been the same. the doctor seemed to pay alot of attention to her kidneys pushing on them and feeling them. i am wondering if so much attention was put on the kidneys if they were damaged or inflamed by the doctor. when she opens her eyes a white film is in the corner of her eyes, and she seems really tired.

It's very stressful for a cat going to the vet. The white on the eyes happens sometime when they are tired. Just let her rest and see how she is in the morning. If you're still worried call your vet. All the best;^)

I dought that the doctor injured the kidneys by palpating them. The strain of a visit to the Vets is alot for an old kitty of 12 years. Did she receive any vaccines or anything else at this visit? Sometimes they can have a bad reation to the vaccines that would make them lethargic or even feverish. Kidney failure is very common in older cats of this age. Did the doctor comment on how the kidneys felt to him? Where they enlarged? Keep an eye on kitty and she should perk up in a day or two. If she stops eating or becomes very lethargic call the vet or take her back. Could be something wrong. I would assume kitty will be ok... shes just pooped from a very stressful day.Good luck!

because of the cat food recalls - I think all the vets are paying a lot of attention to the kidneys as that is what is being damaged by the food
but it might have just been part of the exam
You should still call your vet back though - to make sure and informed him about the white film. She might just be tired because of the visit itself - you know how you feel after a trip to a doctor and being pushed and poked!
Did the cat get any vaccinations? That would be another reason she isnt feeling well.

It is usually pretty easy to feel a cats kidneys (if they're not overweight). I suppose you could squeeze them too hard to cause damage, but I would hope the vet didn't do that. Would be unlikely. Maybe she isn't feeling good from the stress of the trip or from the vaccines. Call your vet in the morning if the cat isn't better.

I doubt the vet disturbed the kidneys. When the third eye shows up in a cat, it usually indicates distress or sickness. I would call the vet back in the morning and tell him/her your cat's symptoms. Maybe she needs some blood work or something. Since she's 12, you really need to pay special attention to her as older cats truly need it!

Good luck!

i think you should call your doctor and explain what is going on..... did they give your cat any shots? cause vaccinations can make your cat lethargic. but otherwise either call or take your cat back to the vet
