Unfortunately, the article you've selected shows only a proof by conjecture, albeit an objective guess. true and verifiable evidence of this question has not yet been found... but in time, it will be. There is no reasonable foundation upon which to stand in support for the idea of an existing "soul." It's like trying to support the idea of clairvoyance and out-of-body experiences or any other similarly touted extra sensory claim of ability.

Dear, Great Questioner
This is a difficult thing to prove with empirical evidence. Even if you do not believe in a "soul" persa, can you really honestly say that the evidence that was presented to you sincerely convinces you there is no "soul"? I always rationally question when science makes conclusive statements when maybe the instrument of measure is not the one to best measure what they are studying. What instrument that is I don't know, but I am anxiously awaiting. I think at this point in time it comes down to what you believe.
If you get down to the smallest level, such as string theory, science does not have an explaination for what it is or how it works? So, what would make you believe that science has provided rational evidence of what a brain synapses is or how the brain works?
In conclusion to my long answer...I will believe that people have a "soul" for now, on the basis that science has not given sufficiant explaination to the question of what makes us tick persa or at the least why or how the mind works.
Sincerely, Great question

Ther are in fact proofs for a soul. The soul produces conciousness.
Proof 1) IF atheism is true and conciousness is just part of the brain than we are not free. We would be nothing but matter that would opperate under the laws of cause and effect (such as a cloud for example), this means that we could not change our destiny and would be predetermined to do everything. But we know we can make choices, we know we have free will, therefore a soul produces consiousness, (a soul= an immaterial self).
Proof2) A recent year long study done on cardiac arrest patients showed that some had thoughts and reasoning abilities after their brain stopped working. They floated outside their body, saw lights, and one saw a tennis shoe on the roof. This was later confirmed when the patient was recussitated. Heres a summary of this study

The only thing modern science has done is to show that there is a correlation between thoughts and brain patterns.

If the soul is the information-processing activity of the brain, that would mean that dogs, sheep, birds, lizards, flies, etc. possess souls, too. I think it's pretty tough to make an argument that animals have what we have termed "the soul." Last time I checked, animals had no qualms with survival of the fittest, whereas humans take great care of the sick and weak. Why is this? Because we have souls, and animals don't. Animals don't have the sense of self that we have, so the information-rocessing activity of the brain, which is common to all living organisms that HAVE a brain, is NOT the soul itself.

Can you provide proof that you don't have a soul? Haven't ever heard that the eyes are the window to the soul? Well, I can tell you that i believe that because i've meet people whom when i looked into their eyes i didn't see a soul, you know empty , devoid of a soul(conscience). And then there are people that just radiate with a soul so sweet and divine that you just knew there is a God(Jesus). Don't lean so much on logic, there is something to be said about the AWESOME things in this life u can't measure with instruments of science, only with the heart and soul. God Bless to you and peace.

I forgot the scientist's name, but he conducted an experiment.
He weighed a person near death and then weighed the person after she had died to see if he could detect ' something ' leaving the body. He detected no difference in weight. Of course this was done a long time ago and scales back then were not as accurate as they are today.
The results of the experiment show that IF there is a soul, it is immaterial. Meaning, that the soul does not contain atoms. Therefore, when we talk about souls, we are talking about nothings!

People who have dreams that guide them throughout life are people that see with there spirit or soul.
It is believed that dreams come from the conscience. The conscience can also be known as the heart. The heart of a person is the door way to the depths of the soul.
People who have visions that guide them throughout life also see with there image of the spirit or soul.
It is that when a person has a vision, yes they are seeing through the "eye" of the spirit or soul, but also through there own two eyes because they can see the vision with there own two eyes as well.
Visions are merely images that come to a person through the image that they carry throughout life. A person will have visions that pertain to the image. It is common for a person to also have visions that dont pertain to the image they carry, but that involves in interpreting the meanings of visions. Being able to know the difference.
If a person didnt have a "spirit" or a soul, there would be no reason to have dreams or visions to guide them throughout life.
That is the proof I have of the "spirit" or soul.

Hello and The Holy Bible makes no such claim, in Gen.2:6 when Mankind was created God made man and He "BECAME" A Living soul, a soul is what one BECOMES, and it is NOT something God pokes in to you, also the word Spirit in that verse is used the same way as in Job 27:3 spirit means breath, find out more free bible lessons www.itiswritten.com God bless

well there you go the soul is the whatever you said. Doesn't mean it isn't a soul. Your just upset that there is someone more powerful than you so you hop on the Internet and try and disprove everything that already is and for what attention.
Your science is finally catching up to my religion and people like you want to twist it into what you want to hear. Souls are something that people are not allowed to find because we would taint them.
Wait you wanted proof (pardon my ramblings)didn't you well here you go.
Anytime you feel guilt its your soul. Love...soul
Hate , anger fear.....yeah science say its endorphins and hormones. Call it what you want its all the same. Tomatoes and tomato's. God does not use magic...only imagery.
AND FURTHERMORE until science can prove global warming is caused by humans...don't quote me any dumbass half hearted studies

You may have mistaken me, for the machine in front of you, or maybe even the human body that is in my soul. Perhaps you have no soul, it is difficult for me to determine if you are real. You seem to be familiar with that difficulty. If you wish to think of me as an information-processing activity, that's a start. You are not the first person to look through me, as if I didn't exist, and I suspect you are equally as elusive. I got over it, when I realized that above all, it's only me, and God that really matter. I love the world, perhaps not as much as God. You will no doubt find love as difficult to prove. And sadly, according to my Irish heritage, I realize that you love is the only thing you can't steal, buy, or inherit....it's a gift from soul....and it's free of cost...
