he threw up sunday last week 5X. took him to the vet, they did an xray and blood work, it was negative. He still was not eating, tried boiled chicken and rice, he was not interested. He threw up tues once, took him back to his regular vet friday. Ho fever, no lymph node enlargement. No abd pain on palpation. She gave me reglan and I/D hills prescription diet. He was still not eating. When I take him out for walks he's fine, sniffing, peeing, not pooping a lot of course. He's not his usual self at home though, just sleeping and not playing. Took him to the Park on sunday he was fine. Walking, little running, then we go thime he drank water then threw uop 30mins after. Took him back to the vet Sunday, still no fever. Now I am force feeding him A/D diet but he will spit it out when he gets the chance. I am confused. Today was the first day he did not throw up. I want him to be interested in his food again and not throw up. what am I gonna do?

they did Xrays, there was nothing. I am trying to feed him A/D diet. scoop it with my fingers and try to put it in his mouth. I forgot to mention I had another dog my friends dog with us 2thurs ago and they were trying to hump each other, they are both unneutered boys. My friend took the other dog sunday. Could it be he's depressed or could he have some unresolved issues (you know sexual devt issues) why he does not want to eat. If he still does not get his appetite back by Fri. I will have to take him back to the vet on Saturday. I know it's a long time to Saturday but I am wathing him closely and he's drinking water/pediolyte but would like to give him something else to drink. Something like Ensure. Can I do that?

Did your vet do X-rays? He could have an obstruction. That is not good... If he is obstructed, it doesn't matter if he eats, he will throw it back up. Your dog is going on like a week of no eating... that means no nutrition for a week or more...
Get a new vet. This dog is going to die if you don't find a way to get him to eat.
After you get back from the vet and there is no obstruction...
Try feeding him a raw diet....
Or, if you can't bring yourself to feed him that, try a really high quality kibble that is grain free.
Dogs don't need grains- corn, wheat, rice, barley, beet pulp...They can't digest it, it causes health problems, allergies, etc.
google: dog + food + grain free

Its now time to take your dog to a facility (ER) where you can have an ultrasound, barium series and or endoscopy performed.
An ultrasound will confirm whether the xrays were in fact normal or if there are an abnormal masses found within the chest or abdomen.
A barium series will display perforations or ruptures that may be within the digestive tract.
Endoscopes are used to visualize the internal structures from the mouth to the stomach. It allows the vet to retrieve objects within the body or to take biopsies of abnormal tissues.
These procedures are far from cheap but sometimes are the key to solving the puzzle. It may also be time to get the dog hospitalized so it can receive the nutrients necessary. Emergency and critical care hospitals can give food in a less stressful and accurate manner.
One food to try that I have yet to see a dog turn down is peanut butter.Just a little at a time.
I wish you the best and hope this is of some help.

First of all, I would try another vet, because there is obviously something wrong with your dog. Get all records you can from the original vet including the copies of the Xrays and go to another vet with them, let them know you are worried for your dogs life and you need a second opinion.
And most of all keep your dog hydrated. No matter what is wrong with the dog now, if it is not eating or drinking, the cause of death is going to be dehydration. If your dog will not eat or drink for you for more than 48 hours, it needs to go to the vet and stay on IV fluids. Seriously you need to get the dog back to another vet.
I am sorry for your trouble and hope all is well for you and your best friend.

You may seriously want to consider a raw diet. Feed twice a day. Here's a site with info on raw feeding:
http://www.rawdogranch.com
With all the recalls on food, including Science diet, both wet and canned at different times, different identified foods, and with no guarantee yet from the FDA that all sources of contamination are now sufficiently found out and controlled, your dog is better off with either a raw diet or home cooked one. Another option is to try something in commercial food that has an atypical meat. Nature's Recipe was not involved in recalls and has Venison and Rice blend of dog food. This has no corn or wheat which are common allergens for dogs.
Still, raw or home cooked are best, or partial raw with food that wasn't recalled in melamine, cyanuric acid and acetaminophen recent crisis.

If you decide to switch food from Science Diet garbage, do it gradually. You can also offer your dog some Pumpkin pie filling which helps when the stomach is upset or for doggie diarrhea.

Wow, we can't say take him to the vet. Sometimes what I do when my animals wont eat is find something he absolutely can't turn down. Start trying to give him vitamins --you can find them at Wal-Mart or PetSmart. Try treats--anything that used to be his favorite. It almost seems like he has a parasite or maybe even a little stomach flu. See how this works---other than this--take him back to the vet and don't leave until they find something. Because you can clearly see there is something severely wrong!!!! Good luck and take care!!!

He needs further work up. He could definitely have an obstruction, and would need to drink barium and have a series of xrays to check for it. Or endoscopy. He would eat if he could or if he wasn't nauseated all the time. You may need to go to a specialist at this point.

not eating is one sign of cancer or anemia. did your dog recently get vaccinated? it could be a reaction to the shots.
how old is your dog? don't overvaccinate. Once they're 6 or 7, they're immune system has enough protection and they don't need any more shots. in fact, the shots can do more harm than good, especially if they're predisposed to problems that are vaccine related. My dog just passed away because of this so i want to spread the word so no one else's pet dies before their time. good luck.

what does the vet say? i mean i find it hard to believe he would leave you alone in a time like this.
does your dog eats his treats? seem interested when you prepare food? i would try normal dog food and try and put in some chicken soup. my dog was picky but doing that for a few days helped alot and now she is eating alot!
otherwise talk to your vet again! she has to find something that is wrong with him. it's their job!
good luck!

Get him some NutraCal from a pet shop (it's in a tube). That may give him an appetite, also it has supplements in it. Poor guy. I hope he is better soon. All the best;*)
