I hate to tell you this but right now there aren't many diet pills that don't have nasty side effects. There are pills that will suppress your appetite, but they often also increase your blood pressure, so docs don't like to prescribe unless your weight is enough of an issue to make it worth it. There's also a pill, both by prescription and now available OTC, that prevents your body from absorbing most of the fat you eat. The thing with that, though, is that you have to commit to a low-fat diet - absolutely - because if you eat too much fat, you will have some rather icky side effects (loose stools, leaky bowels, etc.) IMO, if you can eat a really low-fat diet, then you're going to lose weight without the pill. LOL.

You might ask your doc about Wellbutrin. It's an antidepressant, but it's sometimes prescribed to help people lose weight and quit smoking. One of the things it does is curb cravings, and a modest weight loss is fairly common. But like the others, it's not for everyone.

You might also consider trying a diet like South Beach, high on lean proteins, low on carbs. I find when I fill up on protein, I'm not as hungry, and it's easier to lose weight.

It is really an amazing appetite supressant. Called the anti munchie pill in Europe.

There is NO best diet pill. They are all harmful to the human body, despite what others may think.

I see someone suggeste alli. It is not an appetite supresent but makes your body not process fat in food that you eat. It just goes thru you. It can be effective if you watch your fat intake. You need to look up the side effects such as oily gas and stools you can't control.
