I just got my bellybutton pierced today and my piercer said to wait 3-4 days before swimming, and swimming in the ocean is good because of the salt water.
Just make sure you clean it after!
Good luck! =)

You should wait at least a couple months to expose your piercing to any kind of non-clean water (oceans and lakes have bacteria and pools have harsh chemicals).

That said, you can always use a waterproof bandage like Tegaderm when you swim. Just make sure you don't leave it on any longer than necessary, since fresh piercings need to breathe as much as possible.

Good luck!

P.S. You will need the consent of your guardian to get the piercing. So unless your aunt is your guardian, you need to take your parents along too.

i merely have been given mine pierced on wednesday , and the piercer advised me that i could wait approximately 2 weeks till now i pass swimming in a pool yet i shouldn't pass swimming in a lake or river for about 2 months. merely verify you sparkling it once you get out and you are going to be super. ( btw use sea salt soaks or an antibacterial cleansing soap..... never never use alcohol, polysporn, bactine or neosporin (there not meant for puncture wounds, this is what a piercing is :P) stable success getting it executed and it doesnt injury very lots :) desire this helped

It would depend on what kind of water you would be going in, if it's chlorinated water I would say no don't go in as it's a pool cleaning product and may infect your piercing but if it's ocean water, salty water I would say yes as salty water helps to heal wounds, if you do go in the chlorinated water tho maybe buy a waterproof patch. If you go in the salty water tho just make sure to dry it thoroughly afterwards aka use a tissue or cotton wool bud. Good Luck

Yeah it would be good to clean it before and after because you might get an infection if the water is dirty or something!
