I have used nectar in my cakes. You can find nectar on the juice and/or baked goods isle at your grocery store. It's made by Libby's, (I'm sure other companies also produce it), and it is called Kern's All Nectar. There are many different flavors, (strawberry, pear, apricot etc.). You can either add the entire can or parts of it! I have never had a cake turn out as moist and tasty as when I use nectar. Because of there being more liquid than usual in your batter, it takes a little longer to cook than the instructions on the box. Just watch your cake and do the ol' toothpick test for doneness. You will not be disappointed. Happy Baking!

Make sure you add oil, add sour cream and chocolate chips. This makes it super moist. If you want it rich.... melt some chocolate fudge about 1/3 of a cup and pour it in. Remember with chocolate DO NOT OVERBAKE or you will have ruined it. If you add butter it dry's the cake...stick to oil.

You can try adding a can of cherry pie filling in place of the oil and water. Use 3 eggs instead of 2. You can also add a bit of vanilla or almond extract. Mix together (the cherries will be ground into the batter by the mixer) and bake as usual. It makes a really moist cake!

This was posted 2 hours ago so you probably have your answer by now. Just remember that when you bake you must be precise. Baking is a lot less forgiving that other cooking. I learned that the hard way by substituting and sometimes it wasn't too bad but still not as good as if I had followed the recipe

You can absolutely add stuff- hocolate chips, nuts...I usually add a tablespoon of mayonnaise to make the cake moister. I never tried Cream Cheese, but I bet you can. I'd experiemnt-start with just a tablespoon and see what happens. Then add more or less depending on what happens with your first test.
Cream cheese also makes great frosting.

A little more milk and butter should make it more moist and chocolate chips or peanut butter cups (they make tiny ones specifically for baking) will add that extra chocolatey goodness.

Use butter instead of oil. Just beat the room-temp butter in w/ the rest of the ingredients (water and eggs). Sub non-melted butter for equal parts oil.
