I know most of the bad things, but I want some opinions on the good things. I am in a talent show on Saturday. I just want to prepare the right way.

Do drink: Honey and lemon in hot water, but take it easy on the lemon as it can be drying.
Do gargle: Put 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 1 cup of warm water. Gargle....do not drink it. It helps get mucous out.

DON'T DRINK: Milk, caffeinated drinks, or cold drinks.

I only drink water when I'm going to sing. Milk is so out and citrus juices scratch up the throat. I just drink cool water-never too cold. Good luck.

This sounds really gross, but I've heard doing a shot of olive oil (shortly before you sing i think?) is supposed to help. I was in an acapella group and some of the veterans claimed this works. I shudder at the thought of it, but figured I'd throw it out there for you. You'd probably want to test drive it before Sat. though! Good luck whatever you decide to do!

Hot tea with some honey maybe, but the day before, and water all day of. Just make sure you go to the bathroom before you perform. And absolutely no milk, nothing thick, because it will be bad on your vocal chords.

Water is always good to drink, but never anything that will cause any flem in your throat, like milk for example. I would drink water, and that's it. I have heard that some singers would take a shot of vegetable oil before they sang on stage. My chorus teacher always told us to drink water though.

About an hour before you go on, suck on a few lemon slices and do some warm ups. like all of the other people in the world have said already, stay away from milk. don't freak and "right or wrong sing it strong!"

DONT drink milk- it coats the vocal cords. ALSO DO NOT drink COLD OR HOT water as it restricts the vocal cords. Drink room temperature water or juice only.

Hot tea, warm water, essentially warm drinks. No coffee, because it is too acidic. Nothing containing milk or chocolate because it will create phlegm. good luck in the talent show!
