I highly recommend Cosequin (99% glucosamine). I use this for all my large breeds starting when they are 6 months old to help prevent elbow and hip problems. It comes in a chewable flavor tablet and all of my dogs LOVE the taste... no need to use cheese!!
NOTE: Rimadyl is not a joint supplement (it contains no glucosamine), it is an anti-inflammatory/pain reliever. Please don't confuse the two!
If your dog needs an anti-inflammatory prescription medication on top of the glucosamine suppliement, I would advise you to use Deramaxx as opposed to Rimadyl.

The best is not something that you're going to find at petsmart. Yes, there are a lot of brands, and most don't work. In fact, most human ones don't work either--Schiff brand is the only one clinically proven to work in humans and you can buy it at Costco or Sam's or someplace equivalent, but you have to put it down the dog's throat, it is not flavored and they won't eat it voluntarily . The others are poor imitations. Of those made for dogs, I would recommend that you do a websearch for SynoviG-3. I would recommend that you get a tub of the granules and sprinkle it on your dog's food. It's expensive, but will last a long time. Because it is granule form, sort of like powdered, you can control how much you give your dog, unlike pills, and dogs love the taste. It also has other vital nutrients that most dogs lack, such as Omegas 3 & 6. Your dog will not only feel better and move better, he will be healthier and his skin and coat will shine like the morning sun. Great stuff. Good luck.
PS--just read the other responses, and agree that cosequin is good--but still prefer synoviG-3. I was assuming you meant joint supplements, not prescription pain or anti-inflammatory meds like Rimadyl and Metacam--which you would have to get from your vet.

We have a Boxer and he has had Hip Displasia for 3 years now and I have been giving him Glucosamine Chondrotin. His vet prescribes Adequan injections (1cc) which I give to him every 2 weeks and Etodolac 500 mg 1 daily. The Etodolac works well, you will notice a BIG difference in your dogs behavior...your dog will "want" that pill. I know ours does. The Adequen gives him a boost every two weeks. It helps as well. If I had to pick between the two, I would pick the etodolac. I take Glucosamine Chondrotine and can tell you first hand that it feels as if your joints are getting more lubrication. I don't feel the grinding or bone crunching together like I did before I started taking it. I know that it has helped as well. I think that the medicines listed above would help your dog tremendously. Glucosamine Chondrotine you can buy at Walmart or any drug store and the others you can get from your vet. I sure hope all of this has helped! I wish you the best of luck with your dog. They are like kids to us and when they are hurt, we are hurt. Let us know how it goes.

I give Glucosamine. Ester C is another good product to use.
You didn't indicate if this is arthritis, hip dysplasia or something else. Makes a big difference in what you need to give and only a vet can prescribe a pain medication.
Do some research on Rimadyl, a lot of vets have stopped using it due to the side effects. Metacam is one that I've used and should also be given with food (or after the dog eats). That was prescribed by my vet.
Google both medications for information on side effects, uses and other information. I never used either one long term, just as needed.

First of all, they do have doggie aspirin, but you can give a medium size dog a baby aspirin and half that for a smaller dog. As for lubing the joints and loosening up those sore, stiff hips, I swear by shark cartlige and glucosamine. Bioflex is excellent too. But don't bother with paying higher prices at a pet store, get all the vitamins at your local drug store meant for humans. I had a dog, big breed, live to be a healthy 17 yrs. At 14, she began having trouble with her hips and joints...gave her vitamins, three weeks later I swear she started smiling! In a couple more weeks, she was out at the lake swimming and chasing ducks again!!.

I cured my sciatica with this natural treatment ( http://cure-sciatica.info )
Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication
I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen.
I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU84e
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

At our practice we use Synove G-3, Vet Solutions brand, Glycoflexx 2, and Cosequin. There are a lot of brands, but these are our favorites. Price will vary with name brand or form (powder, tablets, chewables).
If glucosamine supplements alone don't help, he may need a prescription arthritis medication.
