I'm only 16 and I find myself forgetting things that only happened a year ago. Usually things people say like certain words that trigger it. My memory has also been triggered by smells, dreams, places, phrases.

People in my school, are like "does this guy have amnesia?".
I don't remember me getting hit on the head or anything, and I am sure I didn't.

It's really weird. I also forgot about a huge old crush I had a year ago.

It's weird because it was the biggest crush in the world, and I got hurt really badly. Could my subconscious mind have possibly blocked something out? I think I used to be more outgoing but now I am kind of a bit more shy and cautious.

People often say "I think he forgot me."

People look familiar, like their face and everything, but I'm not sure, if they are who I think they are.

Anyway to help me remember? Is this memory thing all in my head? It's kind of scaring me.

People say they know me, and call out my name, but I actually have no idea who they may be. Any help?

Techniques maybe? Thanks!

Without a proper diagnosis, I don't think it's wise for anyone to offer advice or suggestions in this case. You need to see a neurologist to rule out physical causes of your symptoms. Memory loss isn't always a signal of a serious condition, but you'll need a diagnosis to make sure. Tell your parents that you're scared, and see if they can help you get to a doctor. Good luck.

Your mind can work in weird ways. There could be many reasons why you are so forgetful and selective with your memories.
You may automatically up things out of your mind if you suffer from certain conditions like PTSD that can be caused from a past traumatic event that causes you to block out or think about anything that could be related to that trauma. Sometimes people are aware of the trauma amd some are not.
This could also happen if you are taking certain medication. These medications can cause a person to be forgetful, careless or have memory loss.
If it seems to be a real hinderness and your life is becoming more and more difficult because of this you definately need to consult your doctor regarding this.

16 year olds are weird. If you have been doing street drugs, STOP IMMEDIATELY. But on the other hand maybe the computer of your brain is all filled up and it just takes longer to access the information. Or your brain is too small and can't retain all that info. Or you have Pre-senile dementia because you aren't aging fast enough. Shy and cautious in romance is a good rule to follow. I approve!

we're in the same boat dude. only it doesn't really bother me at all. it helps though when friends remind me of things. i dont really lose the memory its just that its sort of hard for me to bring it up on the conscious level on my own. i'm on my last year at college and seriously, i can't remember much of all my high school years.

i dont think there's something wrong with people like me who have what seems to be some sort of memory lapses.

i guess this is because we remember things because of the sentiment we feel about that particular entity. chances are if i dont give a damn, i'm most likely to forget it. it's most probably the same case as yours. and that crush of yours? she's hurt you right? it's just defense mechanism that made you not mind her at all.

we just dont remember as much as other people do. don't fret. you're all right dude : )

you may have something, well, i suggest you see a doctor. if not, look in maybe an old year book and cover up the names. try to recall everything you know about that person.

The only help I can give you is to advise you to tell your parents...if you dont forget to.
but seriosly you can not fix an organic problem with words you got to go to the doc.

ask your parents if you have ever gotten a serious injury to your head or you should get a check up from your doctor.
