So, I'm 20, and I will be turning 21 soon but I am meeting a new acquaintance from Brazil who is over age and I just wanted to know of a few places that wouldn't card me because I just wanted to be able to order a drink with dinner without the embarassment of being turned down. I'm not trying to go crazy with anything, but I just want to order a drink being that he will most likely order one himself. Any suggestions? and Thank you in advance.

i have a fake id but it sucks, and I'm almost 21 and a college student so to spend money on a good fake id seems pointless...I just have to buy my time...please any suggestions?

Unfortunately NY is the one place that is very strict about carding people. Better you should just go out order something with no alcohol and not make a big deal about it. Not everyone drinks, even those way over 21. They card people way over 21, even people who are in their 30's and 50's, so better you should play it safe. If you have a bad ID it will get you into too much trouble. They are really tight. If you can get a really good one, that's something, but better to play it safe. I've been in the situation you are, I was always the youngest of all my friends and I just ordered diet soda and nobody said anything. To be honest I still just order ice tea, I'm on a lot of medicines and can't drink, so if you feel funny about not drinking, use my excuse, say you are on a drug and can't have any alcohol. It will get you by very nicely and no problems.

A liquor license in New York costs at least $15,000 a year to have. (Yep. That's fifteen grand year just to serve booze.) No reputable establishment is going to knowingly and willingly put that kind of scratch on the line by not carding - if they do, they're stupid. (Or they're making money hand over fist illegally anyway.)

justsomegirl doesn't know what she's talking about. It's very traditional to have wine with dinner and Brazilians do drink with dinner when going out with friends.
