I have never known this to be a problem. I can't imagine a manager at a dealership yelling at you. If one yelled at me I would tell him he just lost himself a sale. I would guess any manager would gladly come out and help you even if after hours. Sunday is different, if a manager comes out that is illegal. Most car dealerships have just low metal poles that you just step over to look. It is actually encouraged at some dealerships so you can look at the car without pressure of buying it. Sunday is a great day to go look at cars when all the lots are closed. On the other hand if they have a 10' high fence just drive on by. You most likely don't want to buy a car there anyways.

I was always taught the best time to go shopping is whenever the dealership is closed. The only time I've ever shopped for cars has been after hours.

Sure you can unless there is fencing around and signs to keep out but i've NEVER seen that. You can't touch the cars though because they are probably armed, and its hard to see inside a lot of them for the tinted windows. so why waste your time?

I got yelled at by a very violent lot manager for doing that after hours. It's illegal, so looking from the outside of the gate is a good idea.
