GRENATA, ITALIAN ICE
To 2 cups water add 1 cup sugar and do not stir after the sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil and boil 5 minutes exactly. Add 1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice (or other juice, espresso, etc.). Freeze in cubes (it never gets really hard), then mash cubes with a potato masher and serve in sherbet glasses. Genuine Italian ice has large crystals, rather like a snow cone

i could not find anything close to a slurpee or italian ice but here is a good frozen treat.
Strawberry Freeze
INGREDIENTS
1/3 cup white sugar
3-1/2 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
1/2 (10 ounce) package frozen strawberries, thawed
7/8 bananas, diced
1/2 (8 ounce) tub frozen whipped topping, thawed
DIRECTIONS
In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and cream cheese until smooth. In a separate bowl, mix together the pineapple, strawberries, bananas, and whipped topping. Fold the fruit mixture into the cream cheese mixture until evenly blended.
Spread into a 9x13 inch glass dish, or divide among several smaller serving dishes. Cover with plastic wrap, and freeze overnight.
Thaw for approximately 20 minutes before serving.

OK I like th easy way. Go to Walmart and buy the ice crusher and the syrup and a bag of ice. It's fast, easy and man do I regret lending mine to someone last summer right about now; I never got it back...that's how good of an idea it was.
