1) Toners w/ salicylic acid. e.g. Neutrogena Clear Pore Astringent http://neutrogena.com/ProductsDetails_69.asp?lProductLineID=13

Can make your own: 8 ounce bottle of distilled water add four crushed, uncoated aspirin
or
mix of 1/2 water, 1/2 witch hazel, 15 crushed, UNCOATED aspirin, and 2 drops of tea tree essential oil and 2 drops of rosemary essential oil

2) Products like Tend Skin. http://www.tendskin.com/

3) Face scrubs to clear away dead skin. ex) Neutrogena Men Razor Defense http://www.neutrogena.com/men/MenDetails_139.asp?lProductLineID=10

4) Really good shaving creams/gels & sharp razors.
ex) Gillette Excel or Schick Quattro
Best to shave after a shower or at least apply a damp, wet face cloth to soften beard & open pores.

It won't happen. Ingrown hairs are sometimes roiled up tight. As a dermatologist told me years ago, have a pro pick them out or get a sterile needle and pick them out. I once got one that was about 6 inches long.
