Chlorophyll A and B absorb red and green wavelengths. Something to due with ion dissociation and light reaction side of photosynthesis.

Look up NADP, Light dependent reactions, Chlorophyll and chloroplast metabolic function.

Sorry- my memory of Biochemistry and metabolism isn't very good.

i think it is because the chlorophyll can make energy by absorbing all the other wavelengths of light. can't do it with green, so it reflects it back making the plant green

Because if humans could see IR, plants would appear that colour, as they reflect more IR than Green light.
