I know one of the 10 Commandments calls for no working on the Sabbath.

I have a neighbor who still insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?

And if the first Commandment is "Thou shall not kill"
Why does God tell us that we should kill people for working on the Sabbath?

And if the 10 Commandments are only for Jews, why do Christians want them posted in public places?

Set in stone... That's funny... LOL..

Actually there are 3 sets of 'commandments' found in the Bible.

Exodus 20:2-17, Deuteronomy 5:6-21, and Exodus 34.

The wording and breakup of these commandments is different in each one.

Also, it doesn't say 'thou shalt not kill'. What it says in the original Hebrew is 'thou shalt not murder' (Exodus 20:13). There's a big difference between kill and murder. Murder implies intent to kill, not just the actual killing. Killing someone in self-defense in not murder, for example.

It also doesn't say you can't work on the Sabbath in the commandments. It just says to 'remember the Sabbath and keep it holy' (Exodus 20:8). For many, that means don't work, but the commandment doesn't say that. It's just the way that these people remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. What you are referring to is something else Moses said, but it wasn't a part of the Ten Commandments.

The GOD I know, and whom I believed his infinite and unquestionable all might and all knowing that He is, do not restrict his mightness to just giving out 10 very basic commandments and neither His Mighty One do not just carve it in a mere stone-as what our beloved Moses had claimed, instead what I believed is that God upon creating Man as his masterpiece and Godlike image had infact handed already his good intentions (you may call them 10 comm... whatever) by giving us intelligence and wisdom, and that I believed that the best place to carve those commandments is in every man*s heart. So there*s really no need to get upset in observance of such a thing as Sabbath Day-did you think God really got tired on the seventh day after his six days of work ceation, and that he needed to rest...?

Well technically the sabbath was changed from Saturday to Sunday with the Christian calendar, so I don't think anyone could really follow that commandment perfectly. Ask the police.

I don't think we have the originals in stone any more. But, the 10 commandments are unchanging. However, they were given to the Jews now, and not the rest of us. Don't get confused-you will really make a lot of work for yourself.

Ha? are you a Jewish man, my rest is in the Holy Ghost not days of the week, so I rest everyday not Saturday or Sunday.
God does see the desires of your heart and if you are Jewish maybe that is still OK, but I think not. Also is this man a Jewish man or is he Gentile because the Gentiles were not obligated to follow the Law, except where they were told differently, drinking blood, meat sacrificed to idols, and such things. Also Gentiles met on first day of week not last.

Yes and you can read it for yourself in The Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Axum. It's in the Ark of the Covenant.
Ethiopia is the only one in the world which still claims to possess the Ark of the Covenant. Although it was once paraded before the town once each year, the object is now kept under constant guard in a "treasury" near the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion, and only the head priest of the church is allowed to view it.
Get passed him and check it out.
Only the Chief Rabbi of the Temple in Jerusalem can condemn a man to death. Good luck finding him these days!

It's a problem in translation- Thou shalt not murder, which in Hebraic times, is different than just execution. So feel free to stone your neighbor. Of course, don't do it on the Sabbath.

the ten commandments are still in place today. however, in the time they were written the killing was done by a kind of supreme court. since that court no longer existts the punishing of that person is left up to god

well killing is wrong and i dont think God would want anyone killed. and the sabbath s the day you go to church and praise the lord. so i guess God just doesnt want to be left out of your life while your at work.

I would say no considering the fact that a Christian can commit murder (Thou Shalt Not Kill) but repent and still have a place in heaven.
