No, you should definitely not get the tat before you go.
You will double, maybe triple the chances of infection or ruining the tat.
Wait til you come back so you can take care of it the right way.
There are just too many things that could go wrong................
do yourself a favor and don't do it.

I don't think that I would suggest getting a tattoo before going to lacrosse camp. If you must, try to get the tattoo in a place where it is least likely to get messed up (you don't want it anywhere where clothing or gear is going to rub against it). Secondly...Leave initial bandage on for 2-3 hours after you get your tattoo. Remove bandage and clean with cool water and antibacterial soap using clean hands. Never use a washcloth or other coarse item. Keep your tattoo moist by applying a thin layer ointment such as Bacatracin 3-6 times a day. For tattoos in areas where there is contact with your clothing, apply your ointment and wrap with a sheet of plastic wrap. NEVER USE PETROLIUM JELLY, PREPERATION H OR ANY OTHER SUCH OINTMENTS ON YOUR TATTOO. After 1 week switch to an unscented hand lotion. Try to keep your new tattoo exposed to the air as much as possible. Showers are OK, but do not soak your tattoo in water. No swimming, sunbathing or soaking of any kind for 2 weeks. If you are in the sun, keep a thin layer of sunscreen on your tattoo.

Try to keep it covered ( maybe a large bandaid bandage and a shirt/shorts whatever, depending on location of tattoo) and use some a&d ointment or whatever the tattoo parlor reccomends. You don't wanna be in the sun because the heat will make it hurt and you don't wanna be hitting it and causing any damage to the skin that may effect the pigment retention. Once it's healed you wanna be sure and use a good sunscreen on it when outside. Enjoy camp!

I would wait til I came back... At camp, your going to bump that sucker, sure as there is air all around you, and its gonna hurt like 'all get out'!
Its going to "scab over", and until it does, its prone to infection, so, I wouldnt be doing any type of thing like that, where you may bump it on the dirt or anyplace else, and get it "infected" because "then" you have a really bad time with antibiotics and all that mess!
Keep it covered for awhile, when you first get it, to keep it clean (first few days), then it starts to scab over, (and hurts), then its ok to uncover and let dry out.
I wish you well...

DON'T USE ALCOHOL! It will dry it up and it will crack and peal.. which you DON'T want. Keep a gauze pad taped over it so it doesn't rub against your clothes and so the sun wont fade it. Keep Vitamin E lotion, unscented, on it to keep it from drying. DON'T scratch or peal it, it will give you a wicked nasty scar (and then you can't get touch-ups).

Make sure you put lotion on it and keep it covered. The best lotion to use is Lubriderm. The unscented kind. And if you cover it like with gauze, your clothes won't rub on it.

i think that you should just get the tatoo after camp. It is a bad idea to do it before camp because it WILL get sore.
