they look the same from a distance but the ids have the official seal of airforce,army,navy or marines on it to indicate what branch they are in.

their are diffrent id cards for spouses or retirees that are color coded to indicate who they are to the military the color codes are all the same for the diffrent branches and look the same only diffrence is that they will list what branch of military they are associated with

They use to be green and similar to the orange/pink dependent, and blue retired cards, but now they look more like a credit card.

yes, and no. everybody AD has the CAC card. But retirees and dependents have different color IDs.
