A host of religions predate Christianity and survive today - Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Hinduism, Buddhism etc etc. In fact the only major religions which came after Christianity were Islam and Sikhism. So you might call Christianity the Middle Child. :-)

All religions that I know of except Islam and Mormonism predate Christianity.
And Christianity came directly from Judaism. Many of the concepts, prayers and rituals came from Judaism. Did you know Jesus was a Jew? Did you know that at the Last Supper, Jesus was celebrating Passover with his disciples. They were having a Seder which is the Passover meal.

Pretty much all of them!
Christianity is only 2000 years old and yet the western world is geared up to accommodate it!
Bhuddism, Paganism, Islam, Judaeism. All older

the assumption of hell grew to become into already recent in Judaism earlier the time of Christ. Early Jewish perception grew to become into merely that the ineffective went to a place of darkness and shadows, yet a greater progressed theory-approximately heaven and hell starts off to alter into obvious in the later previous testomony writings. specially, Daniel 12:2 talks appropriate to the ineffective increasing, and a few dealing with 'eternal shame and contempt'. there's a miles less clean occasion in 2 Maccabees 7, the place seven brothers dealing with torture and martydom show their faith in the resurrection and their advantageous desire that their tormenter would be punished for his sins. outdoors of the Judaeo-Christian custom, i think of that the classic Egyptians had a theory-approximately punishment after dying for sinners, yet i do no longer understand whether this grew to become into thougt to be an eternal punishment.
