...or however you people call it.
What made them change their minds?
And, are any of them really intelligent (not emotional intelligence, but the mathematical sort)?

I didnt assume only stupid people would do that. Ive never met a person who did so I just wanted to know what would make a person do that.
And, by the way, I sort of envy the religious people who always have something to believe in. I wasnt raised in an environment like that. I was just curious.

Ivana, you need to think outside your small space. The world is full of these types of people you described

Religious concepts are beyond what an individual can embrace intellectually. Religion is mainly inherited socially, but it is possible for belief to be changed. As "intellectually logical" as it may seem that we all end being Atheists-Buddhists, sometimes people digress into Paganism or Christianity. I haven't heard of anyone becoming Shaman though.

The change comes due to some inner burst of revelation, which we characterize as religious, and perhaps sadly not spiritual energy.

"Knowledge is limited, but stupidity is unlimited."

Atheists are happy being Atheists, Buddhists are happy being Buddhists... Tragedy comes when some are not happy others are happy…

The not religious environment you are probably referring to; the Atheist, is usually not a spritual environment (as intellectual as it may be), but a dogmatic environment to which religion (excluding Buddhism being non religious) can easily enter.

Intelligence and being religious can go together. The inner forces of an individual can thrive around a religious concept, which even more applies to collective behavior (believe it or not, it works :P). Being religious is being spiritual. Atheists can be spiritual too, as much as atheists can be Buddhists (individual path, or god-me). It is all about how you put definitions into concepts... It is said that being Buddhist is above being religious and being atheist. An intelligent person could be an emotional idiot, politician, or a mass murderer, while an average person could be a happy and positive person...

It is normal for your age the denial behavior; because you are entering the period of chalenging authority, and do not get surprised if you become spiritual after the denial phase.

I know of a lady who was raised in a Buddhist family who converted to Mormonism.

A year before I met her she got all interested in the Bible, reading it every day. No one tried to preach to her, she just changed on her own. Then she had a dream wherein she days Jesus told her that there was a book besides the Bible, and it would have his name on it.

Within a couple weeks, the LdS missionaries knocked on her door and presented her with a Book of Mormon (subtitled Another Testiment of Jesus Christ).

She had another dream wherein she saw this castle-like building. Everyone inside was wearing white, but she couldn't get past the receptionist. The next day the missionaries showed her a photo of the Salt Lake Temple and explained the ordinances which occur in there.

I wouldn't call this lady super smart - like most Brazilians she didn't pursue a college education. She converted because she was ready.

Yes, and YES. I have friends who were raised in atheist households who became Christians later in life. One of them is working towards getting his M.D., but I'm not really sure about the others.
All I know is, they can hold their own in our scientific debates.

What made them change their minds? Research. And lots of it.

I wish I had bee fortunate enough to have been raised in the Christian faith.............but I did embrace it right before I turned 18.

And you are assuming.........................that only stupid people would do that? Or you are assuming that people only believe in God because they were programmed to believe?

Many of us were, sadly, not raised in the faith.

Some of them, yes. Anyone from any background can convert to any faith, if they choose to and they find it makes sense to them.
