Has anyone been stationed there, if so are we allowed to take our pets? we have 2 cats...we were told we arent allowed to take our ford explorer and we are only allowed to take 10% of our personal belongings...whats it like over there..good, bad experiences..any thing would be helpful... thanks!!!!

thanks.. mrs...we have been stationed in italy so i know about the pets certificate and shot records, and the passports,i was hoping the person that told us 10% was wrong...thanks for the info!

nope, no POVs. the cats will be fine, but you will be very limited as to which housing you can get into. Navy allows cats in the Towers, I am not sure if Army does or not.

You can buy a beater car very cheaply. Just make sure you have a lot of JCI on it. It's the most expensive part of owning a car there. the cats will need health certifuicates and recent record of shots. the Base Vet will know exactly what you need.

You also need to complete your Overseas screening and get both passports.. the No fee and the tourist one. the tourist PP is taking 12 weeks, so do that ASAP.

the ten percent doesn't sound right.. that's only for Singles or guys on Unacompanied Orders. If you have Acompanied orders you should be able to bring 75% of the weight allowance. But don't bring King size beds or very large or heavy furniture.

Zama is pretty small, the exhanges at Yokosuka and Yokota are better.
