Can DVI-D single link transmit 1080p or just 1080i?

Question

I know it can carry a 1920 x 1080 resolution at 60Hz, but since progressive carries more frames would it transmit, or would a dual link be needed?

Single link will be fine. By the way progressive scan has the same amount of frames as Interlaced scan. The difference is that interlace displays only half the scan lines at every frame and progressive displays every lines every single scan.

no single link would work, its wen u get to resolutions beyond 1080p then u would need dual link
