it happened to me twice so far.. i was like exhausted, i lied down on my bed, trying to get some sleep... i felt going deeper and deeper, then at some point, i started to hear people laughing... i was still conscious that im not totally asleep, i could feel the light in my room... so that voices seemed fun at the beginning, so i smiled... but later on, they began to get louder and louder like my head would blow out, and then i was STUCK!!! i tried to stand up as i knew i was still conscious, i tried to move my hands or my feet or call someone, but i couldnt!!!! i felt like if i didnt get out of this thing, i would die!!! i tried to open my eyes, gradually, then i succeeded, but for like a minute i couldnt move at all or say anything!!!
i searched yahoo answers and found out that this is "sleep paralysis".. what is it caused by??i saw a comment that says that those voices we hear are actually spirits... i really felt like those ppl were laughing at me, that they were demons... any help?

See, just from the little bit of research you did, you know more than all these answerers here answering off the top of their head or wherever some of these weird answers came from.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis

Yes, sleep paralysis and hypnagogic hallucinations. They sometimes go together with cataplexy and sleep attacks to make the four symptoms of narcolepsy. People can also get any of these as isolated symptoms.

There is circuitry in all of us to paralyze your muscles during REM sleep, so you don't act out your dreams. When that circuitry fails, people sleep walk. When it kicks in before you're quite asleep you get sleep paralysis. It's not dangerous, just weird. It is not a food allergy. That Wikipedia article mentions pharmacotherapy if someone really wants it. For me it would be enough to know what it is. Then again I've never experienced it.

EDIT: You're still wondering if this is spiritual? Look, hypnagogic hallucinations are dream-like experiences that can happen with sleep paralysis or on their own. If dreams are messages from the spirit world, then hypnagogic hallucinations are, too. I find that dreams are simply a way our brains think while we're asleep, in terms of symbolic or imaginary images and our emotional responses to them, as opposed to the words or more realistic images that our brain thinks with when we're awake. One's no more spiritual than the other.

When I started praying regularly, God answered those prayers in many ways. My dreams were not one of those ways. Some people can see an angel in every light and a demon in every shadow, even one of each in eternal combat, as if God wills that. Yet there's no way any human being can understand anything about spirits directly, or the spirit world wouldn't be so opaque to us. If it's revelation you need, pray to God for that, not to people who don't even know what sleep paralysis and hypnagogic hallucinations are.

There are good and bad spirits. Try asking for an angel, spirit guide or dead reletive (doesn't matter who, just whoever you feel comfortable asking) for help and protection if this happens again. Try to stay calm. It may not be a bad thing, you may have just scared yourself when this happened and it began to seem scarier and scarier as your adrenaline was rushing as thoughts become fear. I also took a class in college, Psycology of sleep and dreams. We learned about what happens when you sleep but also about sleep disorders. Here's a book we read:
Power Sleep : The Revolutionary Program That Prepares Your Mind for Peak Performance by James B. Maas, Megan L. Wherry, David J. Axelrod, and Barbara R. Hogan
It's a great book with answers on anything envolving sleep and a little bit on disorders. Check it out on amazon.com

I have had that experience of being paralyzed, and was not able to move, have not had this for some time no.The thing that I relate to it is food allergy. As far as the dream,if you concentrate,on the day, something you saw or heard for a split second, wanted to respond to it,but didn't,will surface again in your sleep. For example, when I was a child,my mom had some guest over for Tea,I asked her if I could have some, knowing what her answer would be, no,but her answer was no,go to bed. That night I walked in my sleep, and was at the stove making Tea,my Mom told me to go back to bed,I did. She told me what I did the next morning.Try to remember something you saw or heard before you laid down, the paralysis, has not reoccurred since I was put on anti anxiety medication.

ooh man THOUGHT I was the only one. but it only happened to me once. it was when i had just found out bout my friend's dad's death. I was told that he got sick and passed away but the real truth was that he committed suicide. So that night, i was sooo scared to go sleep but when i finally did, i heard a man's voice saying something to me. I couldnt figure out what he was saying but he sounded mad, then i knew i was asleep so i was trying to wake up i finally did and i was trying to move due to the discomfort i was having but then i couldnt. I think my leg was halfway off the bed and i was trying to pull it back in but i couldnt, i could move nothing but my eyes and like body felt like something was holding me back and yeah i felt paralyzed. I will be coming back here to check for answers. But i wrote this just to let you know you're not the only one

im still surprised that someone else also have this problem

Yes, their are good/bad spirits.
Ask for only good spirits to be around you and see yourself being surounded by "white light".
You will be fine.
