my husband and i got married 2 years ago and my wedding was a disaster not to mention i did not have money to pay for it so people pitched in and helped...(which we were very thankful)..my husband and i want to renew our vows on the 5th annivesary and was wandering if we could have a fancy wedding with the bridesmaids and groomsmen and the whole to do.....is it appropriate or should it be something small and get over the fact that we had a horrible wedding day?

I think that if you guys have the money and means to do a nice renewal of vows...you should....it doesnt matter that you are already married....you should have another ceremony if it will make you happy.....there is nothing wrong with it...I think it would be nice for you guys to be able to have your "ideal" wedding finally! Just dont make it too expensive for others....(dresses and tuxes)...if you can get those at an affordable price though you will be fine...and most people would probably love to see you have your ideal wedding...i say you should go for it!

I think you shouldn't be too surprised if you find a bit of opposition there. Not too many women would appreciate their husbands wanting to do something romantic like re-new their vows only so they can sleep with other people. Kinda puts a damper on the gesture. Then again, each to their own! She might be thinking the same thing but doesn't know how to approach the topic with you! You know your wife better than anyone so only you can be the judge of that. Just beware that if she doesn't go for the idea then you are going to have major sucking up to do to get back in her good books.

I think it's a great idea! My husband and I got married almost 4 years ago. Our day was great, but we would like to renew ours on our 10 year, and have a whole new ceremony. I think you should do what you both think is right. I wouldn't do it just because you had a crappy wedding day the first time. But I would do it because you love each other and want to show and share that love with your friends and family the way you intended.

i think its a great ideal, its up too you, like you i also had a last minute wedding, although it was beautiful, small and simple, i would have really liked to have all my family, and his there, unfortunately we couldn't, we decided from one day to the next to do something quick and simple, but i am also planning something along those lines as a five year anniversary.
i think it will be great to do it again and I'm looking forward to it, so should you, you have three more years to plan, so this is more than enough time to have a big thing...

Of course you can. Most popular ones are like high school reunions at 10 years and 20 years and so on.

I think you should at least take a honey moon every other year

This is something you do for 25th, not 5th anniversary. I renewal of vows could be nice, with a nice party, but nothing showy, the ink is not dry on your first license yet! LOL

if you want to do it "your way" this time then just do it! There is nothing better than a happy wedding memory and if you don't have one make one :)

A nice party, yes. Bridesmaids, no. Think about your marriage, not your wedding day.
