Sounds like you need to teach him to NOT run off.
Dogs lick injuries to try to make them better. If he won't let you touch it to check it and/or treat it, then take him to a vet.
If he'll let you touch him, wash it with soapy water and rinse it and if it's not too big, just put triple antibiotic cream on it and bandage it overnight.
If he doesn't cooperate... take him to the vet. He WILL behave for the vet.

Take him to a vet asap. There is a very good chance he will get a erious infection. And, do you know for a fact it was antoher dog? is your dog up to date on shots? If not he will need vaccines asap! A bite wound can be more than just a couple of holes - the skin can be pulled away and pockets of infection can form. Also it hurts!! So please take him to a vet . I am a certified vet nurse!

You need to bring him to the animal doctor right away. It could be infected. I would call a vet ASAP and give the receipt to the owner of the pet that bit your dog it is their responsibility to pay for that. If not take it to a small claims court. They need to learn a lesson and train their animal from approaching and attacking other animals or people. That is unacceptable behavior.
Please take your pet to the vet right away.
God Bless.

u should probably bring him to the vet. it's probably just swelling up. but bring him to the vet,so he can make sure it's not infected or anything like that. if the dog won't let u touch it, and u want to bring him to the vet's office, make him lie down on a blanket, and carry him in a blanket. i definatly think u should have a vet look at it.

Take it to the vet, depending on the size of the other dog, the bone may be broken.

You do not know who bit your dog, but for all you know his leg could be infected. Take your dog quickly to the hospital or vet or whatever!

i think that you should immediately take him to a vet and get him looked for all you know he may have caught a disease from the other dog that bit him and since you don't know what the other dog then you can't be sure that the other dog didn't have a disease

Take him to the vet if it's open. They can prescribe anti-biotics to prevent infection. Hopefully he's up to date on his rabies shot because that would be a major concern.

the leg is not where another dog would have bitten him. I would guess he caught it on something metal.
