I don't like rampant assumptions that all atheists everywhere couldn't possibly be good or moral people.
I don't like childish word games like "hey, if you say 'oh my god', you really believe in God, don't you, DON'T YOU??"
I don't like people coming here with complex question about cosmology and biology and then when all atheists don't respond with PhD-quality answers, scream "HA, see, your science is stupid, God is awesome!"
There should be a notice at the top of the main R&S page - "PASCAL'S WAGER IS NEITHER AN EFFECTIVE NOR A SOUND ARGUMENT, PLEASE REFRAIN FROM POSTING IT".
There should also be a notice which declares this section open to ALL who have questions or knowledge to share which pertains to religion and spirituality, and that this is NOT a Christians-only section.
Unreadably long copy/paste blocks of scripture are totally unnecessary as are constant reminders that the unsaved will be lost to Satan and Hell forever after death (scare tactics are NOT good arguments).

See, there's the thing. I'd never stop theists of any nature - and note to folks, it's not just Christians that do this - from bashing me with words. Clubs, fists, feet, yes. Words, no. I believe that only through true freedom of speech and expression can we all have an honest, growing debate, whether it be a religious one, a social one, a political one. If my non-belief system is so shaky that I need to start asking people not to say what they feel, I reckon I'm in trouble.
"you're gonna burn in hell!" - Yeah, says you, NEXT!
I'd rather not engage with those who express themselves in terms of hate, just because it's time-consuming and you feed them by giving them the credence of attention. Otherwise, come one, come all, bash what you like. Or indeed what you don't.

Pangel, I know you mean well but I have given up on the Christians.
If I answer questions honestly and with solid evidence to support my answers I get violation notices. OK!
I really do not care what they think anymore about atheists or anything or anybody else. All I have seen out of the vast majoirity of them is bigotry and hatefulness.
(You, Father K, and a few others are outstanding exemptions)
My only purpose here from now on is the total and utter destruction of the "Believers."
That is not as bad as it sounds because there is only one of me and so many bigotted jerk believers posting here that my beast efforts will only amount to a light weeding.

I don't think I've had any personal comments, I perhaps haven't been here long enough.
I wouldn't care if they don't respect me, but I do get annoyed by plainly ridiculous questions or answers. Not silly, obviously intentionally foolish ones, but those that are inherently contradictory or founded upon a flawed argument. Like the person who said the egg was obviously designed so that it wouldn't roll of a shelf easily.
Or do I just not see the joke?

Although it doesn't bother me that much...the assumption that Christians are the keepers of western morality grates on the sensitivities of many people.
I am an agnostic. My son is Christian. He decided to be confirmed in his faith and I wanted to support him in his decision by attending the service.
In the meantime, my son decided to tell the priest that i was a Muslim...just to see what happened. I had no knowledge of this.
The Priest went out of his way to greet me at the church and involve me in every way with every part of the ceremony. The local congregation could not have been kinder and I was made to feel as though I was the most welcome visitor in the history of their parish.
You can imagine my confusion.
I think the point is...I have no argument other than the space to be who I am.
My darling son's faith has shown me that I do not need to fear for that space.

T hat I will burn forever for not being christian or that their religion is the only true one (there are thousands! I mean come on just because it's yours doesn't mean all other people's are just....well you get my point), that all atheists should leave this little section because they 'aren't christian or anything else so why are they here?', supporting their answers with the bible, which I don't believe in becauase I am not christain so effectively doesn't do anything, and more stuff...
they could be more respectful by respecting the fact that atheists aren't christians and their job is not to be converted. for astart

Thiests would do themselves a lot of favours if they qualified their statements with "I think" or "I believe". Those who state religious opinions in the form of hard facts are very annoying. They need to understand that religion is a personal matter, and that not everyone believes the same thing.
Examples:-
A likeable Christian
"As a Christian, I believe that athiests will not go to heaven. I wish you would all open your hearts to Jesus too, and join us."
An annoying Chrisitian
"Atheists will not go to heaven. Convert or else."

i'll pull an atheist move and answer even though it don't apply to me....
some of these answers sum it up best...."displaying a total lack of thought is what gets to me the most. " "they deserve everything we throw at them" yeah typical...since when is having a belief system displaying a total lack of thought? That's such a CLOSED minded statement! SELF RIGHTEOUS MUCH?
and i've never said atheists have no moral compass....i just think it's sad that someone can actually believe they came from a puddle of primordial sludge and are not a created being....i have a real hard time with that....i don't care what religion or spiritualism belief system you have..join the party....but just nothing? no soul? no afterlife?
and you'll NEVER Hear me say/type whatever that because someone is atheist they are "Going to hell" That is not biblical! That's church idiocy! But believe as you will.
and to those who can agree to disagree? wonderful we can have a beer and a smokey...but to the ones who continually say "you're brainwashed, you can't think for yourself" among other numerous blasphemies of God, Jesus etc....i say take a flyin leap !@(#&*#*@&$#!
overall some decent answers from you atheists and i agree it would get old someone saying some of the stuff you hear. i hear it too from other christians so i know....

I'm bored by Christians quoting obscure unclear text and saying it condemns all homosexuals when it does no such thing if you read a literal translation, it merely says some ancient Levites were not to do a particular act which is not specified at all...and it only applied to them anyway so .... really dim and really repetitively boring and wrong! But I guess we should blame the translators and interpreters who have embellished the unintelligible with their own prejudices until it has become institutionalized...poor show!

the folk who call themselves "Atheist" are the folk who reject the actuality whether they settle for it of their hearts. yet their ego, their strategies do no longer desire to settle for the actuality. those people have faith that "in the event that they close their eyes, the tiger won't see them, and that they are going to be saved". the place on the different hand "Theist" are divided into faith, many are fake, and one is on actuality from the "Day a million", it quite is referred to as "Islam". Who ever believes in Islam believes in Allah (the only God), Mohammed as his final Messenger or Prophet. In Theist, Muslims understand the actuality and all different do no longer.
