By simply asking "Non-Christians: What does 'marriage' mean to you?" I garnered a lot of judgment of my character, religion and beliefs, and even a bit of wrath from some responders. I've seen this a lot on Answers and have caught myself doing it as well. Do you notice this as a problem and do you have any solutions? Would we be able to give better answers if we didn't read so much into each question?

(I realize that there often IS a lot that can be read into many questions.)

First of all, don't ask vague questions.

And when answering, try not to read more into the question that what it says

i know what you're saying.

with religion and spirituality...i think its much more difficult to take the passion out of a voice or not hear what you want to hear.

maybe the saying "love is blind" applies to some degree. if 25 people came up to me and told me they didn't like my husband i'd probably get mad and defensive and i'd probably never be able to see it from their point of view. i'd probably find it a reason to love him all the more. but i definetly know some people that i sit and think why in the world are you with that person? lol. some of that may apply to what i believe so it may be more difficult to understand even a simple question.

its just a thought. i don't have any solutions other than if each one of us would try and find respect for each others perspectives. the question you posed sounded pretty philosophical to me. not really a right or wrong answer; just posing a question.

...aaaand i don't think i really answered your question, lol lol lol.

to each his own opinion and response no matter what the question. One can never really know the "total" information. best not to ask them or answer any if it is a problem; That is a good solution in my opinion based on the limited information I have attained.

We would be able to give better answers if the question gave more information of what the asker was trying to ask.

That sounds good that we should not read so much into people's questions. That goes also for answers.

We need to be a little more careful with our words.

Well, yanno, I barely know you.. as this avatar... it seemed kind of premature for you to ask me to marry you through an intentional misunderstanding on my part.
