I think that you can keep your hair if you would like, and there may be a helpful solution to this problem. If your acne has large pimples is painful, red, and swollen, I suggest you see a dermatologist. But if you have some irritation with slight discomfort... What I suggest you do is Wash your hair thou roughly, then pull your hair up and wash your back with an over the counter acne cleanser, you may want to get a back loofah, but don't use a brush,( the stiff bristles can irritate it worse.) DO NOT pick or scratch, it may spread infection. Another thing that is really important is to make sure your bedding and clothes are laundered regularly. If you can during the day try to keep your hair off of the area, and you could use an acne lotion like stridex, but use just a small amount everyday.

If you like your long hair, don't cut it just because of acne on your back. I have had my hair long and short w/ back acne and it doesn't matter what length my hair is. If I am going to have the acne on my back, then I'm going to have it. My hair didn't make the difference. I think it is just a hormonal thing. Most likely it is going to clear with time. Try a special cleanser. Don't use a scrub. Scrubs will irritate your skin even more. I would probably use something for sensative skin and going out in the sun for a few minutes won't hurt either. I think the sun actually helps, but you don't want to over exposure yourself. I hope that helps.

Long hair is much more attractive in my opinion. So no, don't cut your hair. Wash you're hair more frequently and your face as well. I have bangs but you don't see me walking around with acne and a buzzcut. You just have to take better care of your hair and skin. Beautiful things are worth the little inconveniences.

Hair on your skin can cause acne because of the oil that is being released from the hair. Cutting will be fine, but you still need to treat your acne. Try neutrogena all body wash and bar soap. If you use this you can still wear your hair long, but try to not use much grease inyour hair or anything heavy.

its true, hair can be the source of grease that causes acne. try looking for a shampoo/conditioner specially made for oily hair if you don't want to cut it and i mean one recommended by a stylist or salon...nothing off the shelf of the grocery store. cutting your hair will help clear up that back acne but its going to take some time so be prepared to wait through the healing process. if it doesnt you may want to look into a product specially made for body acne. proactiv.com has something like that.

I'd use a different shampoo - for oily hair.
Also pick up the nutregena acne wash (body) and a lufa on a stick use it daily in the shower - if you don't notice a change perhaps it is your hair (I tend to doubt it) hair on your face is different as your scalp is right there and your face has larger pores - give this a shot and take some vitamin a e and c orally - and up your water in take.

Hey, I don't know if the oil in your hair is causing your acne it could be instead from using conditioner and allowing the conditioner to drip down your back as you're washing it out. Instead, you should flip your head down and put in your conditioner and then wash it out in that same position so the conditioner won't clog your pores in your back. Also, you should get a loofa (sp) so you can scrub your back easily. Hope this helps!
