Get off it. The Bible is changed all the time to suit people's needs. Why do you think people pick the church they go to? They select the one that interprets things the way they like it, not the other way around.
The Bible says all sorts of things that go in and out of vogue. I was in church with my sister and came across a section in the Bible-helper book in the pew titled "why men are better than women". But I'm sure everyone in the church ignored that section, concentrating instead on what they felt like.
Religion is a choice. Sexuality is not. Human rights are not.

"Homosexuals should have legal contracts with there partners because they honestly cannot say they are following GOD's marraige commandments that would be blasphemy."
Why should I care what the bible says is and isn't allowed? It's not real. God isn't really there.
Why are you so bothered that two people who love each other want to get married, just because they're the same gender? Do you think everyone should be legally forced to follow the biblical commandments?

a legal contract between 2 adults is fine with me. But not even THAT is granted. i agree that most christians believe that the bible says that homosexuality is wrong. However, i'm not wanting to change that. Religion and State are two different matters. and when religious people in office (or anyone else) condemn that i have a legal contract with my partner simply because we are of the same sex, then i think that the religion and state barrier is not there and should be. You understand what i'm sayin'?

You only married because you're a Christian? Then why no kids? That's the whole point, according to some Christians. You say people shouldn't suit the bible to their own morality - haven't you?
And doesn't the bible say that if you're divorced, you're not supposed to commit adultery? Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery. -- Mark 10:11 and Luke 16:18
See also Matthew 5:32 and 9:19
Do the marriage vows mean nothing to you? "Til death do us part?"

You know I think it's a great question you ask. As for my answer... I think the reason for the concerns is that they must obviously want the acceptance of that certain party who doesn't currently accept them. They have no need to fight iwth those who already accept their lifestyle. In a way I think it is in an effort to get approval from God. If somehow they can get God to change His view on their morality, or immorality if you will, then they have won that debate and can feel like they won't go to Hell for violating God's law.
Herein is the lie though.... we are not to change God's mind, but rather mold our own to his teachings and laws. I think that is the issue anyway... we want a God that will just accept us no matter how we are and won't hold us to a standard. It is far easier that way. Why believe and worship a God who expects the best from us, even if that best means overcoming ourselves? It is far easier to be lulled away into carnal security and say that all is well and God will save me no matter how much I transgress his laws. He will beat me with a few stripes maybe, but he will do that to everyone, so it's all good. We'll all be saved in His Kingdom. Let's eat, drink, and be merry.....
The peculiar part to me is how people can't see that this way of thinking has been foretold centuries ago.
I certainly hope I will have the courage to make the choice to mould myself to God's will or allow Him to mold me as he would have me.

Marriage stopped being a religious institution in this country the moment government started giving deferential treatment to it. Tax benefits, insurance beneficiaries, and death benefits are not given to non-married couples. Why should gays be denied equal access under law? If you wish to protect marriage on religious ground, then it must be abolished as a government institution and no deferential treatment given to married couples. Just because you believe in a fairy tale deity does not give you the right to dictate who people can and can't share their lives with in committed relationships.
Bringing God into a political debate instantly loses you the debate. No religion in this country should receive preferential treatment. Period. I am married and have been for almost six years now. I married my wife to signify my love and commitment for her. I am an Atheist so my marriage had nothing to do with following commandments.
Why should a man or woman be denied the same right because a mythical bearded old man in the sky said it was wrong?

I agree. I think they are asking for a civil ceremony which would be different from the "spiritual" marriage given by God for man and woman.
Also, remember Satan is a counterfeiter so I guess this is just one of many things that will be happening in this world.
So I think for business or legal dealings, they can have a civil ceremony at the court house. Still I can't look at it as a marriage in the Christian sense.

Homosexuals WANT the legal contract!! Marriage IS now both a legal contract AND a religious ceremony. They aren't necessarily ALWAYS both. If you were joined in civil marriage then you ARE married even if you don't go through the church wedding.
You don't get to redefine marriage into your tiny little Christian box. Marriage isn't OWNED by the Christian church. It isn't theirs, they don't have exclusive and privileged say about what it is or how it should change.
