an atheist with a college degree will misrepresent the Bible

Well, most educated people who are not Christians misinterpret the Bible. There are many with a Ph.D. -in religion !!! that can not interpret the Bible. I read their works often- I don't have a Ph.D.

I would have to say the college educated atheist.

The Atheist with a college degree in English won't have the Holy Spirit opening their eyes. The Christian with the 8th grade reading level will. Also, some translations make better sense to different people.

BTW, popular media only writes to an 8th grade reading level & it seems to work for them. ;)

Are you only asking this to start more problems?

Anyone that knows the word of God, no matter their age or formal education is more likely to interpret the word of God as it was spoken. There are athiests with all kinds of college degress that not only dont know the word, dont believe it. Having a degree in English or anything else means nothing. God says that even the most simple can know and understand enough to ahve the gift of salvation. He only expects us to learn, according to the knowledge He has given us. Example. a retarded person can stll know Jesus, but to expect a profoundly retarded person to explain the gift of salvation and all the reasons of the plan of God, no, not unless the Holy Spirit gives them revleation and they repeat it as such.
Degrees mean nothing to God. He is only impressed with thos of us that are truly His, nothing else matters. He sees no class distinction, loves us all jsut the same. But the ones saved, are the ones that will stand for Him and obey Him, thru the end times , no matter how difficult it may seem. If we are in Gods abiding care, He will get us thru to victory in all things, if we hear and obey. Obedience brings blessing and disobedience brings curse. that is a theme running all thru the Bible, still true today. amen Great question.

I'd say the educated Christian with a degree in Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic (someone else typed this first but I don't see the post anymore).
Why is it that atheists try to pretend that intelligent, educated Christians don't exist?

Matthew 11:25: "You have hidden these things from the wise and intellectual ones and reveiled it to babes."

Education is very nice, but understanding is more important. Too often the college degree in English gets in the way of understanding.

The Bible is alive..........it is God's word. It can be understood only by a person who's Spirit has been reconnected to God by receiving the pardon He offers through Christ.

Also, the Bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. So, the answer would be the 8th grader who has the wisdom to know to fear God....

The person who wears clothes is more likely to give an accurate interpretation, for he is able to focus on the task at hand and not on things such as "My, it's cold in here!" or "What's the purpose of even asking 'boxers or briefs'?"

What are you talking about? any one can misinterpret the bible. i don't think it's so much misinterpretation as it is understanding. when you read, you interpret according to your own understanding of it.
